Museo Municipal y Casa de La Cultura is a museum in the city of Apodaca, Mexico. The museum is built in honor of Prof. Moisés Sáenz Garza, educator, indigenist and diplomat, a native of Apodaca, the museum’s inauguration was in 1988, year of the centenary of the professor’s birth. This work is created as a replica of the facade of the old municipal palace for generations to know the history of the region and the municipality. Located on Calle Abate Molina, at the height of 413, in the heart of the Zona Típica of Villa Alegre, this building is one of the oldest buildings in the area, an exponent of the architectural and historical characteristics of the traditional rural villages of the area. The building is a construction that dates from 1871.

The museum space is divided into five rooms; two rooms where the history of the region and the município is exposed from pre-Hispanic times to the present day, a room dedicated to Paleontology, a room dedicated to the movement of regional music and a central space suitable for artistic, cultural and temporary exhibitions. This museum also serves as a House of Culture, with 2 rooms where workshops on music, dance, theater, and painting are taught. The museum is open for visitors all 7 days of the week from 8am-7pm.

By virtue of its architectural and symbolic characteristics, typical of Creole-style constructions, it is that in October 1998 this building was declared a National Historical Monument, with the purpose of protecting and spreading its heritage values. It is excellent to know the history of Apodaca through this place. In addition, it offers various cultural workshops and artistic events. There are no entry fees for the visitors but if a school group comes to visit the place they need to have written permission from the management of the museum. There are many cultural activities that take place in the museum except for singing such as guitar classes, painting and many more.

Normally, the people who come to visit the place on an average spend around 3-4 hours at this place. The history and rich cultural heritage of the city of Apodaca could be seen in this museum. It is a place of great historical significance. The exhibits and sculptures in the museum also represent and depicts a great piece of history about the city of Apodaca. Therefore, it is recommended that if you are Apodaca, this place is a must visit during your travel.
