The Archaeological Museum of Mazatlán is a historic building that aims to expose the pre-Hispanic culture of Mazatlán, Sinaloa highlighting all kinds of ancestral customs especially funeral homes and the famous ball game known as ulama. The structure of the museum dates from the late nineteenth century to the early twentieth century and has ancient features and an architectural model in the form of "L" to which the entrance to the facilities is maintained on one side, and this access accommodates the first exhibition hall and therefore gives way to the other rooms of the museum.

The museum is integrated by 5 rooms of which 4 are permanent, and approximately 200 archaeological pieces are exhibited. In the first room, he describes the different zones in which the Sinaloan cultures were developed, represented by a state packet. The second room shows the environment and way of life of the inhabitants, as well as the geographical location of Sinaloa through maps and photographs. Room three exhibits the collection of funeral customs as well as construction and house tools such as stone axes, arrows, and obsidian blades. In room three, everything related to the petroglyphs of the region is exposed, as well as the history of the ball game called ulama. The last room is everything related to the process of Spanish conquest in Sinaloa.

The museum is located on the street of Sixto Osuna 76 in the Historic Center of Mazatlán in Sinaloa corner with Venustiano Carranza, one block from the Avenue Olas Altas. The museum organizes guided tours among the Mazatlán student community of all levels, conferences, workshops and regional and national events. Libraries in the museum specialize in history and regional art. This museum can be part of your walk through the historic center, also crossing the street you can visit the art museum of Mazatlán. It is located a few blocks from the Plazuela Machado which is another historical place alive in Mazatlán.

The museum is opened from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am- 6 pm and the entrance fees are 40 pesos, and the entry is free on Sundays. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to get closer to the history and art of the region. Within its spaces, the museum also has a room for temporary exhibitions. It is recommended to visit the place with children as the beautiful history of Mazatlán and get knowledge about their customs and their rich heritage.
