I go for a lot of walks when I stay at my in-laws as well. ;)
Personally I don't watch "the news", that is just a show to get people upset. CNN was on in a restaurant I was eating in yesterday and the entire time the only topic was a allegedly rude comment someone made in a closed door meeting, apparently that is just about the most important thing in the world.
If ISIS rolled into Niigata City how would you deal with that in a voluntary manner?
Would you fight them or bow down before them?
You don't have any weapons to fight ISIS with, if a government offered you weapons or other military assistance would you take them?
what came first, "murder and violence" or government?
I don’t have any weapons or services with which to band together with community members and “fight ISIS” because the state has made this sort of self-defense and self-defense organization illegal. Absent this prohibition it would be entirely possible. Although I highly doubt those cats will be rolling into this tiny archipelago en masse anytime soon.
You can say without the state I wouldn’t be able to walk, because the state supplies crutches and healthcare. This would be ignoring the fact that they are the entity that broke my legs with a lead pipe in the first place, and that many other organizations can, do, and would provide healthcare services if permitted to.

The Philippines is not all that far from Japan. They are not rolling into Japan thanks to the JSDF and USA.

The whole point is that the state prohibits folks from organizing to protect themselves. If there were no state, could organizations be formed and folks organize to defend against homemade bombs and dudes with machine guns in Toyotas? Sure. Why not?
