Will Trump Ever Make America Great Again?

in #anarchy7 years ago (edited)

I feel, as an Anarcho-Capitalist, that following politics is a sort of dirty, secret pleasure of mine. Most of the vocal Libertarians and AnCaps would be quick to dismiss political current events, proclaiming that we should be focusing on economics and philosophy.

Although the comprehension and discussion of our principles is crucial to furthering our message in changing the hearts and minds of our fellow human beings, I feel it would be remiss to simply brush off what's happening in Congress as something only minarchists and statists should follow up on. What happens in the White House and in Congress affects us all, whether we like it or not, and it's a sort of language we should all learn to speak in order to help us reach out to those who aren't of the same mind as we are.

I preferred a Trump administration over a Clinton administration purely for the fact that I knew it would force Congress to slow down and create pause for the American people. Even with all of his bluster for "Making American Great Again", I figured that Trump being elected into office would be a means of slowing down the war path laid out by former US presidents and further legislation that would restrict what freedoms we still have left. However, I think that a slowdown is as good as we can get from the Trump administration and that we will still get a lot more of the same cronyism we've had for generations.

With the "ideal" Clinton administration and Congress, Obamacare would've remained the same as it was or even made worse with additional legislation added to it. I think that military focus would have shifted more towards the Middle East instead of towards North Korea and China, which I honestly think requires more attention, given that this is an economically important region of the world that affects the global economy.

I also think that, under Clinton, the US would've taken a much more Eurocentric route in adopting more socialist policies. This, ultimately, would have put us on the fast track to an economic depression, instead of the floundering recession the American economy is still in.

All of that being said, the lesser of two evils is still pretty goddamn evil, especially considering the options that the country had set before them. As comedian Lewis Black once put it in regards to the Bush/Kerry presidential elections, "We're left to choose between two bowls of shit.

The US government placed us with the choice of getting an antidote that would help slow down and alleviate some of the pain of the fiscal/political cancer coursing through our veins and a serum that would help further spread the cancer to our vital organs. With Trump in office, everyone now has the opportunity to catch their breath and formulate plans on how to make their next move. With the Left Wing and Right Wing statists, they're focusing their efforts on how to retake or cement their control over Congress and the White House.

Libertarians and AnCaps need to capitalize on this opportunity to take action and show the American people that they don't need to continue choosing between bowls of shit anymore. Every one of us, in whatever way we can do so effectively, needs to get out in our communities and show them that free market solutions will save us from the impending doom of the State.

Good post. What we need to do is to pull a digital version of John Galt's "paradise". Just leave everyone else back in statist-land where they prefer to be, and start our own place, just like in Atlas Shrugged. Only this time it's online. Our own economy basically. I believe that is what Crypto currencies SHOULD be about. Just people taking control, giving the finger to the governments and banks - we don't need you. We are doing perfectly fine without you. As more people realize that there is an alternative group of people doing stuff like this (Steemit) they will gradually understand what money really is. It is not something magical. It is just whatever we decide has value.

Thanks, brother! I think establishing strong, prominent online communities is the first step towards changing things for the better. The reservation I have with the approach of an online community being a solution is that people can easily distance themselves from it and dismiss anything going on with it as a "flash in the pan" or an isolated incident. People need reality to hit home and for it to be in their faces for it to be an effective catalyst for change. We can't present it as "the alternative", as Libertarians have mistakenly labelled themselves as in the past, we have to present ourselves as the best AND only solution possible for there to be positive change.

Humans only change in two ways: the first being through the recognition for adaptation and then changing their behavior to where the change cements gradually over time (this being the healthiest); the second being through shock or trauma, in which a person is forced with the reality of their way of life coming to an end and will either adapt to preserve their well-being or fall victim to the consequences of reality. The government has, unfortunately, indoctrinated multiple generations to the point where it will take severe shock for people to wake up and change their ways. While I'd love it for people to embrace cryptocurrencies and for people to embrace Capitalism, most people will probably have to see first-hand the deadly consequences of Statism for them to do so. Thank you for the comment, brother! \m/

Keep on writing and posting brother. Your content is great, so is your ability to communicate verbally.
