The chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) is a species of goat-antelope native to mountains in Europe, including the European Alps, the Pyrenees, the Carpathians, the Tatra Mountains, the Balkans, parts of Turkey, the Caucasus, and the Apennines.

The chamois has also been introduced to the South Island of New Zealand. Some subspecies of chamois are strictly protected in the EU under the European Habitats Directive.¹

In addition to the area mentioned earlier, Chamois also found in Southeast Asia, precisely in Aceh. The inventor of this mountain goat called it Kameng Tri.

Not just one, two Chamois also found by another man. This is certainly not surprising. The Chamois species are thought to have existed in Aceh for centuries. Therefore they often said, "kameng tri pajoh jagong, kameng gampong keunong glawa (chamois eat corn, goat in the village thrown).

The real sentence is this form of local wisdom, usually spoken by someone as an illustration of the improper application of the wrong law.(*)
