A gloomy day doesn't mean a day in for the birds.
They still have to find food, migrate, find mates, build nests, and take care of young.
During short periods of heavy rain they can hide out somewhere dry. If it lasts too long, they will still need to go find food. Birds employ different strategies to stay warm and dry. Fluffing the feathers holds in body heat, but bigger raindrops can penetrate through the separated feathers. Sleeking the feathers down increases water resistance. Burning calories also helps to produce body heat.

It is so nice to see the birds coming back after this winter season thier songs are singing spring.
