Anyone who has dogs in the family - either directly or through family can truly appreciate the unrequited love they give and to many they are devoted companions.
It's terrible though that people will take on dogs they can not keep, or let them breed uncontrolled - you are right though they can't just be abandoned - tossed aside like an old toy - like every living creature they have a right to live - and enjoy as full a life as possible.
