5 Unique Facts of the Javan Rhino.

1. Stout Body

The rhino's body length is about 3 meters, about 1.5 meters high. Her legs looked short compared to her long body. Due to its unique body shape, the rhino can only move forward and backward. This body shape was also useful to add strength as he ran attack with his horn. Javan rhinos have no enemies, meaning no animals prey on rhinoceros.

2. Can run fast

Although short-legged and heavy bodied, rhinoceros can run fast about 50 km / hr. Wow, fast too, huh! Roughly like a motor that rode a little tight. Speed buffalo run only about 30 km / hour. Though the weight of buffalo is only about 300 kg. Much lighter, right, compared to the rhino whose weight 900 - 2300 kg.

3. Not only in Java

Although called the Javan Rhino, these animals not only live on the island of Java. Javan rhino were once found throughout Southeast Asia, India, and China. However, the population is declining due to hunting, disease, loss of forest, and other problems. Javan rhinos include endangered mammals. In Ujung Kulon National Park on the island of Java, there are only about 40-50 rhinos. In Cat Tien National Park, Vietnam, only about 8 rhinos in 2007.

4. Shy away from humans

Javan rhinos usually shy away from humans. That's why, researchers rarely examine the Javanese Rhino directly. Moreover, because it is so rare, the researchers are afraid of disturbing the environment of these rhinos. To study the behavior of the Javan Rhinoceros, researchers usually use cameras. The researchers also examined this rare animal dung to know their health.

5. Likes wallowing

The face of a rhinos that looks hideous, looks scary and scares us. But the nature of the Javan Rhinoceros is very calm. Like other rhinos, the Javanese Rhino likes to wallow in the mud. This wallowing hobby is to maintain body temperature and prevent diseases and parasites in the skin. The Javan rhino does not dig its own mud. He prefers to use a pool of other animals. Wallowing findings were then he enlarge using the horn.
