in #animals6 years ago

Do you know the big cats you see today were not always so less in diversity and race? Around 2.5 million years ago, big cats were rather a much remarkable group further classified into a lot more types than we have now. Sadly enough, as time passed down, big cats started going extinct owing to the environmental catastrophe caused by Homo sapiens.

Among the existing ones, we still have a few highly dangerous giant cats alive around the globe. Let’s explore this alluring combination of beauty & beast. Below are listed the most dangerous big cats in the world.

1- Fishing Cat

Found in South East Asia, fishing cats are among the very few skilled swimmer animals. As the name suggests, it eats fishes as food alongside almost all of the aquatic animals. Though not so big, Fishing Cat is also a breed of big cats with the small flat nose just like the small cats we often have as pets.
The reason it’s one of the most deadly big cats is the way it super quickly hunts down its prey even in mud. The horror doesn’t stop here for Fishing Cat can also hunt a human being!

2- Wild Cats

Wild cats are an isolated animal, thus does not like to interact with humans. It likes to eat mammals specially birds, rabbits, lizards and other creatures of similar size. Seeing a Wild cat hunting down can give you shivers as it jumps 8-16ft vertically upward to catch the flying birds. Thank God they don’t eat humans!

3- Cheetah

We all have grown up listening to the scary stories of Cheetah and how speedy it can be while hunting down its prey. One of the weirdest thing about Cheetah is, it is the only big can that can’t roar. As scary as their eyes get in the dark, Cheetahs can’t really see much at night as they have a poor night vision. However, they can see their prey from the distance of 5km in day light.
Cheetahs cover 6 to 6.7 meters in just one stride. Their speed limit is up to 112 kilometers per hour. Guess what? This bag cat is running more than half of their time on the ground!

4- Puma Concolor

Known for numerous names as Cougar, Mountain Lion, El Tiger or as simple as Puma, is the scariest animal on the planet. Puma’s found everywhere from Canada to South Africa. It’s the most deadly animal in America. Puma cats are also one of the heaviest cats living in the American continents.
The food a Puma likes to eat include deer, sheep and elk. But they also like to hunt small insects and rodents.

5- Lion

Lion is the second largest cat in the world found in Asian and African regions with different features and race. It bags the ‘heaviest cat’ title for weighting around 550lb. Lion belongs to the family of Felidae. Lions can be super deadly when hunting down its prey. This cat does not know defeat as it must track down anything that comes in between his prey.
Female lions are not lone warriors rather hunt down in groups. Another amazing fact about female lion is that they do the hunting task while catching the pray as the male lions are pretty slow. They’re known for wildly attacking and killing the prey.
Not scared yet? Lion eats humans too!

6- Panthera Ocna (Jaguars)

Have you ever seen a Jaguar hunting down its prey? If not, I’d recommend staying naïve! Jaguars tend to break the skull of its prey by biting it between the ears to get a fatal blow to the brain.
The features that differentiate Jaguars from other big cats is his incredible climbing powers and swimming skills. Jaguars are among the rare big cats that climb trees. They are mostly found in Mexico, Argentina and all around Central America.

7- Domestic Cats

Don’t be mistaken with its innocent rabbit looks much similar to any pet cat for this is the wildest cat you will ever know. The most astonishing fact about domestic cats is, it can hunt down any size of animal regardless of its own. And guess what? They don’t always hunt down for food. Domestic cats like to just satisfy its vicious urge of cold bloodedly kills.

Having acquainted yourself with these wild cats, do you wish to know more about big cats around the globe? Or are you intimidated enough? If you do wish to see more of them, do let us know. We’d love to introduce you to much more than you thought to exist.
I hope you don’t see them on your night mare tonight!

Yes, I've seen pictures of the snow leopard before.

They are quite attractive (though deadly) -- Anyone ever SEE the #FILM called "The Ghost and the Darkness" w/ Michael Douglas?? As I sat in the movie theater in 1996, it CHILLED me to the bone. (Story of real killer lions of #AFRICA ).

The Big cats killed workers at Tsavo, Kenya - as a RAILWAY was being built.

As I see it, Cheetah looks lovely. Although they are fastest, their strength is weakest in the big cat group
