Do you believe in the myth of the red thread? If so, the movie "Your name" is made for you.

Today I wanted to recommend one of my favorite animes, Kimi no Na Wa, known in English as Your name:

It is a brilliant and complex work that consolidates the director Makoto Shinkai among the promising talents of this art in Japan.

A worthy heir of Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and especially Yoshifumi Kondo (Whispers of the Heart), who until now showed great sensitivity to approach drama and romance with intelligent proposals.

It is no coincidence that the press of the Asian continent has described them as "the new Miyazaki" because a clear connection can be established between their works and the films of the founder of the Ghibli studio.
Especially for the sensitivity that his works usually have.

What is the movie about ?

Your Name features Mitsuha, a teenage girl who lives in a rural area of the Hida region.

Overwhelmed by how tedious it is to live in that place and the traditions that her family maintains, one day she expresses out loud the desire to be a boy who lives in Tokyo in her next life.

The universe responds to her desire sooner than expected and one day the protagonist wakes up in the masculine body of a young man from the city, while Taki, the boy to whom that body belongs, awakes with the feminine appearance of Mitsuha.

This curious trigger, which at first looks like a foolish comedy of entanglements for teenagers, with the passage of time becomes a complex romantic drama that becomes exciting.

The director addresses gender roles in society, past lives and the dynamics of masculine and feminine energies in a fantasy story that has a deep metaphysical content.

Very especially towards the second half of the story, Your Name acquires an unexpected complexity where it breaks with all the trite elements of the Coming-of-age genre.

From the technical aspects the film is not only beautiful but also has the quality standard of what used to be the productions of the Ghibli studio.

The curious love story between Mitsuha and Taki ends up being exciting and if the final scene does not generate any emotion check your pulse because maybe you are dead and you did not notice.

In my opinion what I liked the most about the film is the reference to the belief that we all have a red thread tied to us and the other end is tied to our soul mate.

And that is that at some point we all deserve to find that love that we have always been looking for but we do not know its name.
