علم الحساب أدّى تطوّر علم الحساب وتزايد الحاجة إليه، وسرعة إجراء عملياته إلى الحاجة لاختراعِ آلةِ تواكبُ هذا التطوّر، لتمكّنه من أداء المهمّات الحسابيّة التي يستصعبُها، ومن المعلوم أنّ الآلةَ الحاسبة تطوّرت بشكلٍ ملحوظٍ وسريع في القرن الماضي، وسنعرضُ في مقالنا اليومَ قصّة اختراع الآلة الحاسبة، وأنواعها، واستخدامات كلّ منها. اختراع الآلة الحاسبة تعودُ قصّة اخترع الآلة الحاسبة إلى العالم بليز باسكال، ففي منتصف القرن السادس عشر عامَ 1642م، كان باسكال مولعاً بالاكتشافات العلميّة وتطبيق النظريّات الرياضيّة، فاخترع أوّلَ حاسبٍ نصف آليّ، وسمّي على اسمه حاسب باسكال؛ حيثُ أرادَ أن يساعدَ والده الذي كان يحتاج إلى مثل هذا الاختراع، حيث كان يعملُ في مؤسّسة الضرائب محصّلاً للفواتير، حيث كان يسهرُ طول الليل لتدقيق حسابات المبالغ التي كان يحصل عليه يدويّاً، الأمر الذي أدّى إلى تحمّله وقتاً وجهداً كبيريْن، لكن لم يصنعْ هذا الاختراع نظراً لتكلفته العالية.
