Pokemon Let's Go: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Hello everyone!

For all those around here that might not know it, I'm not only a huge Final Fantasy fan, I'm also a huge Pokemon fan! and these past few weeks a lot of gameplay videos for the new Pokemon Let's Go(releasing on November 16th) series have been appearing online and you can bet that I have been all over them!

The game has not been released yet but the date its so close that at this point I doubt anything major would get changed by now and some of my complaints are things that where obviously designed to work that way and I doubt they will be changed.

The Good

Pokemon battles look amazing! They didn't change much in this aspect when compared to the portable games. It's the good ole' battle system that everyone is used to and loves with improved graphics and amazing looking moves! No complaints there! Battles in general look great and are pretty smooth!

The Pokedex looks amazing! It's full of information about the Pokemon as always and the interface behind it seems pretty new and it has some pretty animations that you will be able to check out yourself on the video at the bottom if you want to!

The Bad

I'm a bit torn on this, I don't know if this should belong on here or in the ugly part but for now I believe I will keep this one on the bad side of things.

They have completely changed how random encounters work, If you have played any Pokemon game in your life, you will know how random encounters work, usually you would go and walk in the tall grass and there would be a chance for a Pokemon to appear but now the system has been completely changed and it's basically no longer a random system anymore, instead of having to walk on the tall glass and test your luck to get a Pokemon, they have managed to sneak in a feature from Pokemon Go which is basically kills the whole concept of tall grass because you can see the wild Pokemon in the open world and decide if you want to engage them or not.

The Ugly

Not only did they change the way "random" encounters work in the game, they also completely changed how wild encounters work for the worse too, They basically took the whole old system and thrashed in and instead decided to use a modified version of the Pokemon Go method of capturing Pokemon, you don't even get to fight the wild Pokemon, you can only throw Poke balls at them until they are captured.

Not only that but it seems that they expect players to keep catching the same Pokemon over and over again, because you used to train your Pokemon by farming the wild encounters and only Pokemon that participated in the battle got XP but now after catching a Pokemon your whole party gets XP, they have simplified the way leveling works too...

Keep in mind these are my opinions on a game that has not released yet completely based on at least 2-3 hours of gameplay that I have managed to catch on youtube! I was pretty excited for these games but now I'm slightly down and disappointed at all these unwanted changes... for now I'd rather keep on playing Pokeone!
