The windows that look like liquid metal: Energy Efficient Windows shown in UV and IRsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #architecturalphotography5 years ago (edited)

While taking photos in a newly developed neighborhood, I came across some homes with what I think have Energy Efficient Windows. These windows are coated with a special material to reflect back ultraviolet and infrared light. The ground floor in the photo below shows these windows.

These are my entries for #architecturalphotography

By reflecting these wavelengths (UV and IR) it stops heating inside the home. Just like having tinted windows help keep the inside of a car cooler while in the sun. Though the tint on these home windows is invisible to our eyes. In the above photo you can see the house on the left has this window downstairs while the one on the right does not.

Using my B + W Black filter, you can see this in detail as well in the second house with the flag hanging out the side.

Switching to my 720 NM Near Infrared filter. This home getting its roof redone appears to have older windows without the material to make them reflective. As you can see right though the windows.

Some more new homes with these Energy Efficient Windows. You can see one to the right of the garage.

Lastly the home on the left appears to have many of these windows, you can actually see a trees detail in them they are so reflective.

Owning this camera has opened my eyes to a whole new world. And Im always excited to share it with other people in the community. I hope you found this as interesting as I did.
