An Abandoned House 颓垣败瓦

Today I would like to share with you our visit to an abandoned house somewhere outside of Wellington. The abandoned house stood on a gentle hill covered with green grass with streaks of brown dried from the sun and the cold.

今天想和大家分享一组破旧房子的照片。我们在威灵顿周边的郊野外发现了这栋旧房子。这座房子在一个绿草茵茵的小山上，草皮上偶尔夹杂着受寒冬和烈日饱受摧残的枯草。

When we got closer, we found that there are actually two houses on this parcel of land, or at least one main house that looked like it was a relatively big mansion before it was laid to ruins, and a small house that looked more like a large shed.

当我们靠近时才发现这里其实有两栋房子。其中一个房子比较大，肯定之前是庄园主人的豪宅。另外一栋看上去小多了，可能只是个放工具的小木房。

The house itself definitely looked very run down. There were no doors, and only a few of the windows left. There is hardly any paint of the wall, exposing most of the exterior plaster boards. Sometimes even the plaster board was weathered away, exposing the wooden frame of the house. The roof can probably be considered the most intact, but still there are many holes where the roof tiles are missing.

主房子早已变成颓垣败瓦。一扇门都没有，窗户上的玻璃也所剩无几。外墙的油漆早已剥落，只剩下石膏板，有些地方石膏板也已经被破坏，墙中的木框架清楚可见。屋顶是相对上比较完整的部分，可是也有好几个没有瓦片的破洞。

We stepped inside. It was quite a mess. There are no floor boards at all, only dirt and pieces of wood fallen onto the ground was visible. Dangling wires and rusty pipes hangs from the side of the wall or from the top of the roof. Big holes in the roof can clearly be seen.

房子里面更是一片狼藉，地板已经不知所踪，只剩下一片片泥和土。从房顶和墙壁掉下的木头散落在地上让人寸步难行。天花上还吊着断了的电线和水管。从屋顶上的大洞可以清楚看见蔚蓝的天空。

We don’t know why someone would want to abandon their house here. The scenery here is beautiful. Standing inside the house we could see clearly the rolling hills and the lush landscape surrounding this piece of land. If it were us we would gladly spend the rest of our lives here on this peaceful paradise on earth.

庄园内的环境安静而优美，所以我们怎么也想不通为什么庄园的主人要委而弃之。从房子里的破窗户就可以看到附近郊野迷人的景色。若果我能拥有这个庄园，我可愿意在这世外桃园住上一辈子啊！
