A Sidetrack to Look at PalNet: I Wonder if They Support Art?steemCreated with Sketch.

Taking a brief and possibly irrelevant sidetrack here, just to do a "test post" using the #palnet tag for the first time.

Although my main focus is really on Steem "proper," I am curious about some of these new tokens popping up, and their attendant communities. Seems several of them (including PAL) are showing themselves to be surprisingly "robust," given that people generally just cash out of all these "airdrops," never to be heard from again.

Seems to be the problem with "free money," doesn't it?

Well, free anything, actually.

What We Value

Speaking of "free", along that same like of reasoning, it has been a number of years since I stopped giving away my work, because people somehow "expected" that.

I think a lot of artists and creatives sometimes have to deal with this idea other people have that we are supposed to be doing what we do for the love of art, itself.

That's a nice idea, perhaps... but groceries still cost money.

"Yeah, but you can make a living from another job! A REAL job!"

I like to add elements of spirals to many of my designs

That's a GREAT idea... I think I will do precisely that. Oh, and forget about getting any art, by the way. Yeah, because those hours I'd normally be spending making art? I'll be spending those working at this so-called "real" job.

In spite of that somewhat glib tone, I actually do not harbor any bitterness in that area... people will believe what they believe, and they will apply their projections to serve themselves as best they can.

Either way, I haven't given away art for free — except for charity fundraisers — for several years. And really? I haven't "lost" anything by doing so... other than perhaps a few "friends" who were looking for free handouts!

Anyway, I said this was going to be a brief post, so I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your week!

I am glad you no longer give away arts for free, @alchemystones :) Arts are things of value and if people can't value them, it is not the artists' burden to provide them for free.

The stones you've showed here are very pretty, and their shapes are interesting too :) I really like them ! The spiral 'tail' gives them a bit more of an animalistic feel... and makes them cute(ish) hahaha~

Nice artwork on the stones! I believe that Palnet has a good chance of succeeding, which is why I staked my airdrop. Time will tell for sure. Have a great day! MEOW!!
