Wara Art Matsuri, the Straw Art Festival From Japan

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Wara Art Matsuri or the Straw Arts Festival is a festival held every once a year in two locations, in Niigata and Kagawa prefectures. With this Japanese festival, you can see how creative the Japanese are?

This Japanese festival is held in Kanko Iwamuro and Uwasekigata Park. Why are these two areas selected? Because these two areas are areas that have the largest rice fields in Japan. Because the straw is made of rice, then these two locations are very suitable for the place of straw festival in Japan.

After the harvest, the dry straw in both areas is not directly destroyed. Instead of being charred to ashes, this straw is utilized to the fullest. Under the creative hands of the students and locals, the straw is transformed into an object with artistic value.

The festival begins in 2013, when an artist named Amy Goda makes giant statues of straw. Together, people are very fond of Amy Goda's statues. Because of great success, Wara Art Matsuri was used as an annual festival that is always eagerly awaited his presence.

Do not imagine you will be treated to a human-sized statue. Due to the amount of straw that enslaves, it allows them to make a giant statue. The frame is made of pipe and wooden frame, then added straw. To make one piece of straw, it takes one week. The art enthusiast will be spoiled with the metamorphosis of unused straw into a variety of animals.

The most popular designs are the Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex statue by artist Amy Goda. Another surprising statue is a duck statue placed in the middle of rice fields. A glimpse of this statue looks like a duck who was swimming in the lake. In addition to enjoying the straw statues, the visitors are also treated to local art as well as tents that sell food and beverages.
