Is it possible to make an egg replica of a fruit whose shape is not like an egg? That's very possible if the fruit has a rather thick inner shell.

The fruit that I will use this time to make the egg replica is "RAMBUTAN". This tropical fruit, which has outer skin like a feather, has an inner layer of skin that can be explored to resemble eggshells.

RAMBUTAN.jpg

The method of making egg replicas from rambutans has been around a long time ago, and I have known egg replicas since I was a child. Making rambutans as egg replicas is a fun activity for children and adults alike.

The Reason Why Making Rambutan Fruit As Egg Replicas Before Eating The Fruit

EGG REPLICAS3.jpg

This is a good question. Of course, people who anti-complicated will not make this rambutan fruit as egg replicas to eat. But there is a special reason behind making this egg replica.

Rambutan is a local fruit that has a harvest season, at least once to four times a year depending on the type of rambutan plant. Because it has a little hard outer skin, usually children will have difficulty opening the rambutan skin and need adult help.

Well, this egg replica in addition to playing with children, this is also to make it easier for children to enjoy rambutan fruit. Eat while play.

When I was a kid, I and some friends always competed to make a good egg replica without the slightest hole in the thin skin.

Making egg replicas from rambutans is also useful for practicing accuracy and concentration.

How is the Texture of the Skin in Rambutan Fruits?

You can see the following photos to get an idea of the inner skin texture of rambutan fruit that has undergone stripping on the outer skin.

Rambutan skins look like soft eggshells with a unique texture and brown color.

Why did the skin color turn brown?

When peeling off the outer skin of rambutan fruit, you will see a layer of skin inside which is white. However, it will soon turn brown. This happens because the oxidation process is like fruit in general such as apples, bananas, etc. which turn brown after peeling.

Is it easy to make egg replicas from rambutan fruit?

It's a little difficult to make an egg replica from rambutan fruit. It takes carefulness and patience to peel the outer skin of rambutan so that it shows the smooth layers of the skin inside. If the hand movements are not careful, then the egg inner skin will be damaged, and the flesh of the rambutan fruit becomes visible so that it fails to make an egg replica.

If you glance at the cross-section on the fruit of rambutan, the inner layer will not appear after the outer skin. That's why it takes a special trick to peel the outer skin so that the layers of skin underneath are not broken.

Special Tricks to Facilitate Peeling the Outer Skin Fruit Rambutan

EGG REPLICAS4.jpg

For those of you who have an abundant supply of rambutan fruit, maybe you want to try making egg replicas with rambutans fruit that have a sweet taste. The special trick is to leave rambutans for at least one hour after being taken from the tree so that the outer skin of the rambutan looks withered.

Outer skin that looks withered will facilitate the process of separating the outer skin with thin skin on the inside. Take it easy, the rambutan fruit will remain fresh even if left for even a few days. Although it looks withered on the outside, the inside of the rambutan fruit still fresh.

Preparation and How to Make Egg Replicas

EGG REPLICAS5.jpg

Additional material needed for rambutans fruit to look like eggs is to add ingredients used as bird nests. Usually, a bird's nest used as a place to lay eggs is made from dried thatch grass.

DRIED CORN LEAVES.jpg

Dried Corn Leaves

l9wwd4torp.png

This time I used dried corn leaves which I got from the garden. These corn leaves are already dry from the tree because the corn tree is waiting for the harvest when the corn is completely dry to be processed into animal feed.

After I get a few pieces of dried corn leaves, I then cut the leaves into elongated shapes to look like thatch grass.

Then, make a nest egg circular shape with a piece of dried corn leaves.

The next step is peeling rambutan fruit. Please work carefully to get the skin inside that looks perfect without looking broken, cracked, or hollow.

The outer hairs from the outer skins which have been peeled are then gathered together to form the base for the eggs in the nest.

Arrange egg replicas when they have been finished in the previously made egg nest. I deliberately tore a layer of skin on one egg replica to make it look like the egg would hatch.
