Canvas Prep/Rough Sketch
Layers Used:
Canvas Background layer
Rough Sketch layer
With a neutral colored background, I just draw up a rough sketch of the character's shape.
Fine Sketch
Layers Used:
Fine Sketch layer
Then I sketch over the rough sketch with a finer sketch to lay out more details.
Lineart
Layers Used:
Foreground Folder -> Lineart layer
Then I simply lineart over the sketches. I played around with two different sizes of lining.
Base/Primary Color
Layers Used:
Foreground Folder -> Base/Primary Color layer
Select all areas outside of the character parameters with the contiguous "wizard" selection tool, invert the selection, then fill the area with the character's primary color.
Detail Color
Layers Used:
Foreground Folder -> Detail Colors Folder -> (Folder's color layers)
Add in the other color details.
Background/Final Check/Final Result
Layers Used:
Canvas Background layer
Outline layer
(Various layers)
I add in a gradient background. Then for the white outline, I select the base color in the base color layer using the contiguous selection tool with the Limit to Current Layer option on and the Grow/Shrink Selection set to 15, and select the base color. Then in a separate layer (an Outline layer) fill the area with a white color.
Finally, I check over the icon for any errors. And then the drawing is done!
Thank you and hope you like it!

You are pretty good at drawing expressive characters. I like that grin a lot, together with the pointing finger, this guy looks like he'll do something daring.
Thank you Scrawly! Yeah, just a wolf showing off his best side. ;)
