Theater festival Oerol

Oerol on the beautiful little island of Terschelling in Holland and is one of the largest location theater festivals in Europe.

Every year, the island of Terschelling transforms into one large stage for theater, dance, street theater, visual art and music. A unique and leading festival with the island as inspiration and stage. And All off that for 10 days.

The Oerol board started the festivities in 1982 as a small street theater festival, but it has grown into a diverse cultural festival with about 55,000 visitors a year. Street theater can still be seen, but the emphasis has shifted to location theater, music and visual arts. The island is tryving these days No hotelrooms are available, No AIRBNB is yet to book anymore, according to a friend off Our family its majestueus !!!

The theater performances are on the beach, in the beautiful dunes, in the woods, on the dyke or in a barn or shed.

The places are often made especially for these locations or adjusted accordingly. In addition to Dutch theater and music groups, international theater companies and bands can also be seen.

We want to go there but its in the last period of school and sports off the kids so virtualy impossible to enjoy for a few days.
And you need a few days to take OEROL all in.
