Sand statues are fascinating but so fragile. Those looks amazing! I have only seen the real sand statues once. It was some exhibition in Italy many years ago. It's nice to see what can be made out of something so easily taken away by wind as sand :)
Choosing the right sand is the most important thing for strength. At this project we are lucky that the beach sand is quite good and similar to some of the sand along the coast of Italy. For me the fact that they are temporary is what I like most about it. It means it is as much a performance as it is about the sculpture and when your work dissolved away it means you get too do more.
