Painting Finished: My Latest Singularity Revealed "The Cage"

in #art6 years ago

I am finally done with my Singularity painting I have been sharing in parts.

And after sharing these various segments in other posts, let's see them again,

I have finally finished the entire piece.

I have to say it was rather fun sharing it in bits as I worked on it. A fun reveal of sorts.

I really am finding my footing in my Singularity series. It is becoming a true obsession with me. I find the idea of tech and humanites merge intriguing and as we slip ever further into the digital I can't help but play on an odd sort of future.

I am always going on about how I love "Story" in my art, both to view and to make. This series is becoming like a novel to me and I am writing it out in portraits and drawings.

Part of the "story" of art for me is letting the viewer see their own story. I can share my idea of the scenario with you, but I also love to hear the story that is forming in your own minds.

In this piece I loved the idea of the decorative cage as a trap for us all.

Surely our Singularity heroine here is focused on her own anger at Puss getting after her well created or 'enhanced' pet, yet is she, herself, aware of the very cage in which she exists?

  • And who put her in that cage?
  • Is she aware of it?
  • And the shadow that looms, be he friend or foe?

Perhaps he is here to 'help' either repair or replace sadness with a fresh restart , who can say?
Well, you can say. And even if you don't type it in the comments I hope that you will by simply viewing the piece come to a story line of your own.

I really am enjoying this series and who knows how many more pieces I have in me. In fact I have many more being working on now. Some I have shared the watercolour studies for and they can stand alone in that form, others will be built up from that study or simply become a part of a larger piece.

I am so happy again to have found Steemit and all of you out there. You make creating and sharing work so much more rewarding.

I hope your day is filled with the joy of creation in some way and if not time to physically create, that you have a few moments to spin some stories in your imagination to make the day seem a bit more fantastical.

WHOAAA the end piece is even better than I could imagine and hope for! When you share it in pieces it's hard to imagine how they details are relative in size and where they are on the whole canvas. I truly love it, the way so much is happening on the slip of her dress... Truly gorgeous.

I hope to see many more of them, I believe you've found a subject that's interesting to many people. I'm glad you've found Steemit as well, I'm stoked how artists and other creatives can earn money during the creative process already, instead of only after something has been finished and is up for sale.

Thanks @soyrosa! It was fun sharing it in parts and I thought, "Well, now Ive shown all the bits" but I realized you wouldn't know where each piece existed in conjunction with the other, so it was pretty fun to do it that way. I will most likely share that way again.

There will be more as I've really become enthralled with this world.

It's such an amazing place for artists here, that's for sure.

Ohhh you finally finished her! Quite an adventure, I have to say ^_^.

I like that the darkness is quite overbearing in this picture and I think you did a great job painting her gown. All the elements combined together make the picture rather surrealistic in its symbolism. Well done, Donna :).

Yes, I'm usually one for more colour and not much black but I've been finding myself experimenting with really dark spaces to give a sense of endless depth or mystery. In this one I really wanted it to heighten the mood of the door and shadow and eerie light.

I'm in love with surrealism and I like to just play on the edge of it, so at first you think it's a bit of a normal scene until you start dissecting it.

I love surrealism too! I want to branch out from realism and delve deeper into the lands of fantasy and dreams. Let's keep experimenting, Donna :D.

I really love all your art, each of its parts is in great detail and the mix between humans and machine is spectacular. You have great ability for this type of art. As you comment in your post, it's not only creating art, it's creating a story for her. The arm is my favorite part, as are the details of the dress. Excellent post, greetings.

Thank you. I've really enjoyed moving into this world and the possibilities are endless now I've arrived.

So beautiful. Love seeing it in its entirety.

Thanks so much. It was a fun way to share it.

Thanks that's great. I'm honored.

i love this, donna :> that dress is beautiful, so beautiful. Love the colours, the design and the patterns. Her pose is also very regal, and i love that cage also * ___ *

That kitty tore the birdy's wing??? Such a kitty !!! ... and I love all that dark space in the canvas and then the door way at the far end.... * ___ *

Such an interesting and wonderful composition <3 Beautiful work <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

The dress. I'm happy with it now, but over the past month I kept saying, "why did I choose to make a pattern on a dress!"

I love old cages and I even have some old metal and wood bird cages I've collected, just because I love antiques and objects.

Yes, you can never trust a kitty, you never know what they'll get up to. But, is she being mischievous or is she taking a stab at the not quite real in defense of her own genuine pure animalness?

Nicely done, the dark room, almost like a cage in itself.

OMG! I almost missed this post! The final one!
And I am happy to have found you on steemit! Joy back at you ^^
We are all comfortable building our own cages.

Isn't it the truth :)

What a fun painting @donnadavisart! The open door creates a nice sense of space; it is very mysterious. And any time there is a cat around, it makes me happy.

Everyday I live with a cat I'm inspired by ways to incorporate them in my art.

And they are so incredibly aesthetic!

I probably said it in one of your previous posts, but I seriously love how you incorporate all the gears and the general steam punk-ish vibe into your work. Very distinctive style and I'm also happy to have found you on Steemit as well : )

Thank you so much. I'm really enjoying this adventure into this world. Especially as we truly do face a future where human and machine may begin to blur, I like taking a fantastical approach to what that might be far beyond that.

That's a very wise way to look at it!
