Dev Patel practice painting
Trying to practice painting different skin tones and get away from that photographic type of rendering that washes out skin color. It's a cool effect, having only shadows show saturated colors, but I feel like it just ends up making everybody's skin as light as possible.
I initially struggled quite a bit to get his proportions down in a way that gave this resemblance to the actor. So I did the thing I tend to do best anyway. I threw out about 40 minutes of work and started from scratch with a line drawing. I've been drawing much longer than I've been painting so it tends to be easier for me. I'm also pretty sure it is the way you are supposed to start out anyway haha
