Hi Steemit family!

The fantastic art of Zdzislaw Beksinski

Since last week I have been talking about some of the most amazing painters dedicated to painting dark things in order to explore the deepest spaces of the human mind. Today we will discover the work of painter Zdzislaw Beksinski. Come with me to learn more about the life and work of this incredible painter.

Zdzislaw Beksinski was born in the city of Sanok in Poland on February 25, 1929, in addition to painter was devoted to other areas of art such as photography and sculpture, defined by a style that was strongly influenced by the Gothic and Baroque, of course also made works with touches of surrealism and fantasy realism the latter considered his best period where I portray nightmares and images loaded with symbolism. But then A would abandon realism to enter abstract terrains eliminating the figurative to paint forms.

His paintings were composed with techniques for oil on canvases that he himself prepared, then he decided to explore other techniques but with acrylic painting. One of his hobbies was to paint while listening to classical music the same painter in his memoirs said that the silence disturbed him was something annoying that did not allow him to concentrate.

Due to his popular style, he participated in many exhibitions where most of his works were sold, although it was not until the famous Warsaw exhibition where he sold so many paintings that he decided to dedicate himself full time to painting.

But his disturbing style composed him from his fantastic period that he kept for more than 20 years from 1960 to 1980 where he became popular for his paintings with surrealist scenes and as always touching post-apocalyptic themes where death abounds, skulls, rotten bodies in places similar to a desert.

Zdzislaw Beksinski evokes us through dreams that his mind was disturbed, on several occasions he went so far as to say that his intention was to paint what he saw in his dreams. In any case the same painter was not interested in exposing that his paintings were connected with something specific, for them paintings have no name.

Already by the 1980 survey he was consecrated as a renowned artist throughout Europe, Asia and America, a strange fact is that his own painter after being on an international tour returns to Warsaw where he burns in the backyard of his residence part of the production and explanatory documents of the techniques. When art critics interviewed him, he told the media that some of his works were personal and should not be exhibited or sold.

He also made sculptural works that were also paintings but with fewer colors than usual on his palette. In this period he made many crosses and religious figures, in the 90s he begins to do photography combining painting and photography in different works.

In the last years of his life he dedicated himself to painting in his house in Warsaw, where unfortunately in 2005 he was found lifeless in his room with 17 stab wounds in his body. His death is very strange and remains a mystery a year before his son committed suicide he discovered the body and fell into a depressive state.
