Manufacture of jewelry in casting using the disappearing wax method

 Manufacturing jewelry in casting is a method that has existed for decades around the world. In contrast to the manufacture of handmade jewelry, it is possible to manufacture a large quantity of the same piece of jewelry exactly and market it at low prices and in large quantities. The development of this method caused an upheaval and shock in the jewelry world and transformed the jewelry from a rare and unique product into a cheap and available product for the entire population.
As each method has advantages and disadvantages, the main advantage is the large production capacity relative to the low cost, and the disadvantage of this method is the inability to reach thin thicknesses and combine two types of gold in the same casting.

The stages of production in the preparation of jewelry in casting - the method of invisible wax.

1. Preparation of the prototype "Master"
The first stage is the preparation of the desired model, with pre-planning of the jewel for this method. In order for the jewelry to be prepared in a cast, a 1.5 cm rod must be added to the base of the jewel and used for the injection stages of the wax and the gold or silver in the casting stage. The face of the jewelry should be especially smooth since any scratch or protrusion on the prototype will appear in all the cast jewelry.

2. Prepare a rubber mold.
The prototype is supplied to a rubber cutter whose job it is to make a special rubber mold while designing its inner space according to the shape of the jewelry and the foundry. The rubber used by the rubber cutter is a special type of rubber that melts in the high heat and fits perfectly into the jewelry. For rubber smelting there are special aluminum molds that are adapted to a special vulcanizing device that warms the mold in which the jewelry and rubber are placed. After the heating and rubber smelting process has finished, refrigerate the molds and remove the rubber mold from which the jewelry is placed. At this stage, the rubber cutter cuts the rubber in its center using a surgical knife, using a special and professional method, and divides the rubber mold in two so that it can be pulled out of the mold without damaging the mold. After removing the jewelry from the mold, the rubber pattern remains in the shape of the jewel.

3. Preparation of wax cuttings in the shape of a jewel.
The third step is to make copies of the jewelry (prototype) in wax. For this purpose there is a metal boiler attached to an air compressor. In the boiler there is wax dissolved in high heat liquid, at the bottom of the boiler is a mouth shaped like a dish. When pressure is pressed, pressure wax is injected. The pattern which was divided by cutting rubber bands for connected back strongly between two aluminum panels sized pattern for the purpose of tightening the two parts of the mold.

This plaster mixture fills each cavity in the cylinder and perfectly wraps the wood wax. After filling the cylinder with liquid wax, the cylinder is transferred to the solidification stage of the cast in a controlled manner with the vibration device designed to remove air bubbles from the cast.

5. Remove the wax from the cylinder with the cast.
After an initial solidification of the cast, the cylinder is separated from the rubber base and placed in a special oven whose function is to heat the cylinder with the cast and the wax to a high temperature in which the wax returns to the liquid state and exits the cylinder. After all the wax had left the Galilee, the plaster remained hollow in the shape of the wax tree - the shape of the jewels. At this stage, the cylinder is transferred to an oven in which the cast is heated to a temperature of 750 degrees Celsius in a slow and controlled manner for about 12 hours.

6. Foundry phase.
After the cast reaches the desired heat, transfer the cylinder to a vacuum casting machine or centrifuge machine. As a melting pot, pour the silver or gold into a liquid state and pour it into the cylinder with the cast inside the casting machine.
There are two casting methods, the vacuum method or the centrifuge method. The two methods are intended to completely fill the cavities created in the cast and create identical jewelry for a prototype.

7. Dismantling the wood from silver or gold.
After a relative cooling of the cylinder filled with plaster and silver or gold, the plaster is broken with water pressure and the identical jewelry is discovered.

8. Finish the jewel.
What is left is to separate the jewelry from the tree and move them to final finishing stages.
