How to Plant Watermelon in a Pot
Planting watermelons in pots is an alternative planting method for those who do not have much more land, this method has applied a lot and it has proven that many have succeeded.
Materials and tools
Choose hybrid watermelon seeds.
Prepare the planting medium, for the best quality you should use a media mix from the soil of gambur, compost and manure, we mix it into one.
Use a pot with a diameter of approximately 25cm, try to use a pot with clay. But if you are forced to not have a clay pot you can use a plastic pot or something else.
Prepare wood or bamboo as a support for watermelon plants.
Also prepare like scissors, shovels and ropes for additional equipment.
Ways of making
Make a hole into the planting medium in each pot consisting of 3 holes with a hole depth of about 6 cm after the hole is finished made enter the watermelon seeds after that enter the watermelon seeds, then flush the media to taste, place the pot in a shady place do not get exposed to direct sunlight and rain.
If we use good seeds the growth process will be fast and the buds will appear, let the new shoots grow about 10 cm and do the watering process sufficiently.
Move the watermelon plant in a place with enough sunlight when the plant has grown for about 2-3 weeks, and make a support pole that we have prepared beforehand to support the fruit so that the results can be maximized.
The watering process can be done twice a day, namely in the morning and evening because watermelon is a type of plant that is very fond of water.
When the fruit begins to emerge, it is better to reduce the watering of the watermelon plant, that is, we can water the watermelon plants once every 2 days, this is done so that the fruit produced does not rot because it is exposed to water too often.
When the fruit has begun to grow, use a cloth to hold the watermelon and tie it to the support wood on the watermelon, as long as possible the support in the bolt is as strong as possible to avoid the plant collapsing because it is too heavy.
Harvesting process can be done when the plant reaches the age of 2-3 months, when this is the right time to harvest, use a sharp knife or scissors to cut fruit stalks when harvesting watermelons.
