New Drawing for today

Hey all.. I went for a walk about today, while drinking coffee I did some drawing.
Inspired by a sketch from a few days ago where in I did a skull and flower drawing, I wanted to explore another version of it.

Here is the final.

I may do a few more of these to see where this path of sketches go.

  • Thoughts?
  • Do you like it?
  • What can I improve upon?

Cheers!

If it comes to the drawing technique I like it. I can see you invested time in it. If it comes to the colour its fine with mee too but to be honest I wish the skull subject art would come up with something new.
A kind of update, newer version. Somehow it all looks the same.
Why roses?

Hmmmm. Interesting.
People have been dying for as long as they have been living (*the deep thought for today), so we have had a long time to make art with the parts of those who came before us, so making something new hurm.. but I hear ya, something new... going to think on this one! :D

I know dying is the only thing we can be assure of and I am on my way.
The death feels to me as a friend, roses I don't like ... how about some fire 😁.

Tag me if you can ☘💕

Its my way of saying Thank you for the comments!

I like it, @Jacuzzi :) It's coooool AND fun AND gothic :) The sepia tone also adds to its gothic ambiance, and I love the ribcage and spinal column inclusion in this picture :D

I'd probably add more detailing if you're asking for tips for improvements. Specially on the skull's face paints :) But other than that, this is really neat!!!!

Awesome drawing, you really took me somewhere when I looked at it, I'll spare you the details because they're kind of disturbing.... Anyway you said anything to improve it you're up to suggestions... My opinion is that looks like it could be a good tattoo, I think you could expand upon the outlining a little bit, maybe so it appeared as if flesh was ripped open from the inside by the skeletons? Would be great tattoo for dia de los muertos. Cheers mate.

Hahaha. Some times we have to look into those dark places in our minds to make sure their are no leaks or no misplaced things. :D Yes I agree with you, the outlining could be improved upon. Dia de los muertos, that was the inspiration for this.. just ended up a bit too dark I think.

I do like it :) I like the way the way the rib cage and spine integrate into the rose design. very clean line work as well. RE improvement, not to the drawing but to your posting - if possible, try to remember to take some pics of the work in progress to share. It is always interesting to see an artist's process, how they start out, etc. People here also seem more willing to reward art posts that contain process pics, just in general. Cheers

Hey thanks @carlgnash :D
you know, I get lost in the moment when making art, however a small bit in the back of my mind is like "TAKE PROCESS PHOTOS".. but I am like... just having to much fun to stop and take a shot... lol.. Thank you for the reminder, I will do this moving forward!

Yeah I totally feel you :) Honestly stopping to take process pictures can certainly interrupt the flow, and one of the joys of taking pen to paper is just getting lost in the process. One thing to think about is what stages of your own process it might make sense to document - particularly if you do a pencil sketch first, for instance, stopping to take a pic of the pencil sketch before you start inking doesn't feel like as much of an interruption because it is already a natural break point in the process. It is definitely true though that people seem to enjoy looking at the process. In any case - awesome drawing mate :) I hope to see more in this series. Cheers

I like it although I am also perfectly terrified by the seamless integration of the images of blooming, fragrant life and old, indisputable death, though guised in costume jewels. One trying to devour the other, and the other growing around and through all attempts... I almost see the struggle of the ages, not yet decided...

How to improve it -- it would be even more vivid in full color, and although it would be a searing image for me to see, I'd still want to see it.

Lol, Thank you for the Wonderful comment! I did not set forth to make a terrorizing image, wanted to mix sugar skulls and flowers.. just ended up looking spooky.. think its the rib cage that makes it look more twisted.. :/

Nice! It would be a great tattoo
