I find a very hard time defining my style.

Simple shapes and colors are appealing

Hi @javicuesta. Nice post :) Nice experimentation on styles!

Well my thoughts on style has always been it's good to have multiple styles, to make sure more people can hire you. But honestly the true style in my opinion is something you almost cannot escape. Like your handwriting. You can change it a little, but the habits will always be there. I think that's the real 'style', the one you walk with, eat with, talk with, and draw with, and this one comes only when you're very comfortable with the craft.

Then the other brushstrokes and different looks are more like treatments. Like, Spielberg movies always smell like Spielberg, even though he has made quite a few different types of movies. Don't know if that makes sense :)

That´s a very good anwser. I agree with you but many times in difficult to see it, even when all the clues are there and even when you see it you need the guts to embrace it. But despite the frustration, It´s beautiful journey anyway. :)

I am still looking for my style, I like to try different subjects, I enjoy having different ones.

I like so much the last work.

Thank you! I had a bad day when I painted that last one but I ended up liking it. I also love to experiment, but sometimes i feel i should try to stick to one style for a longer time. Anyway, that´s the beauty of art, that in one way or another we always keep learning! :)

They're all good, but I quite like the top one.

Style for me is whatever comes out of the tip of my pen, I try not to think about it too much, if it isn't consistent, so be it. I'm not a pro so I have that luxury.

Thank you @jcayne. First one is my favourite one too. Lately i´m trying to be more conscius about my shapes and try to make them simplier and more appealing, and it´s a bit tricky. Every nuance makes big changes!

It's nice that you really tried hard on creating something that suits your art style. Hope to see more of your works! :)

The search for the lost style continues! :)

Yes and it should be! ♥

Nice work. I've tried to do different styles but my drawings usually come out looking like my same old style. I suppose that's not exactly bad considering if someone actually collected my work, they would know precisely which work is mine.

That´s not bad at all. I´ve spent most of my proffesional life decoding other designers style and mimicing it to create the assets needed in a production with each particular style. I think that has a big deal on why I find difficult to call one my own. But believe me, at the end, the important part is to enjoy what you do! :)

I definately try to experiment with my work, even trying out the right hand occasionally to see if it can produce something my left hasnt shown me, so I approve of your outlook!

I admire artists who can spend large, extensive amounts of time on one "style". Personally, I struggle with it, though I recognize that miiight be because I just haven't quite identified and settled with my true style, from the soul. Like, I think I have gained skill and technique through technical and realistic drawings, but I don't always LOVE doing them.

So, seems to me that different styles is the way to go. Variety keeps you sane! Well, keeps me sane, at least...

By the way, all the examples in this post are cool, but the "shapes and proportions" example really strikes a chord with me. It's quirky and fun...very interesting!

Keep up the good work!

Thank you! Well at the end of the day, the truth is that we can´t scape our own style, as everything we produce has a little bit of ourselves. :) So the style we should adopt is the one we have more fun with each time, at least for personal creations.

I also find it hard to define my own style since I love doing different things. Maybe the technique here is just follow what our hearts want to say and in that way we will find our style that people can say "Oh that's her art" by just looking at the work.

I think the style is the concious or unconcious way of applying the technique. And it should follow our hearts. Consistency in style is a hard thing to get for some of us and sometimes (more often that I´d like to admit in my case) the "what the people will think" whisper in the back of the head, just mess with all the fun of creating art. Ultimately we all should have all the fun posible without worrying too much of who´s looking. The first person to be pleased should be us.

I totally agree!!
