Forgiveness

It is taking me a long time to learn about some of the vast and wonderful depths of forgiveness. Please enjoy, and take to heart, this illustration and Bible study that I have written about how to lead a life of sincere kindness and forgiveness for anyone.

FORGIVENESS

Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."

• Biblical forgiveness is complete.
• God forgives completely.
• Can you say the same about how you treat people who have offended you?

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 How Jesus Defines Love

• Love is kind.
• Love keeps NO RECORD of wrongs.
• Is that the kind of love you now have toward people you have conflict with?
• If not, must repent.

Matthew 22:36-40 The Second-Greatest Command

• Love your neighbor as yourself.
  *Involves kindness, care, consideration, not ignoring a person.
• Can you say that about your most challenging relationships?

Matthew 18:21-35 Unmerciful Servant

• Forgiveness is cancelling a debt.
• End of bitterness.
• Forgiven completely, not partially... as long as I don't see you again.
• Is your forgiveness conditional?
• The servant did not understand heart-level forgiveness.
• Don't take Jesus' forgiveness for granted.
• Prove that the cross means something deep by your forgiveness toward others.
• Unmerciful servant was dull about relationships, unloving.
• Must forgive "from your heart."

Matthew 6:14-15 Forgiveness for Relationship

• People want to forgive on their own made-up terms. But must forgive on God's terms.
• Forgive or you won't be forgiven.
• God is watching you.
• Do you have sincere forgiveness toward all people?
• Complete love and forgiveness for others is a salvation issue.
• If you want relationship with Jesus, then your level of love and forgiveness must align with Jesus' expectations!
