Unearthing Some Old Drawings

in #art6 years ago

I was out in the shed the other day and found some of my old drawings. Thought it would be fun to share them with you.

I consider myself an amateur artist when it comes to illustration, but I did actually go to art school. I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Multimedia Design, which amounts to a general knowledge of a broad spectrum of visual art, both digital media and traditional.

I prefer to write or sing, rather than draw, but I do enjoy visual art. Maybe one day I’ll bring out my charcoals and pastels again.

Mountain Dreaming.

I really like this one. I think I just used ink and brush. Trees and mountains, mountains and trees.

I went to art school outside of Chicago. All I wanted to do was get back to the mountains. My family left Colorado when I was twelve, and I am simply not a prairie girl, or a city girl.

I am a mountain mama—it’s in my blood.

As soon as I got my degree, I packed my car and drove to Whistler, BC. I've lived in the mountains ever since.

Sacred Things...

Candles and a dead rose, the wooden mug I got from Renaissance Faire, a dark room… These were some of my sacred items at the time.

I probably had an assignment to do a still life drawing or to play with shadow, and this is what happened. Charcoal.

I’m not especially impressed with this one, and I’m actually not keeping it. A lot of my old art will probably go in the fire, ‘cause I simply have too much stuff.

But I’ll keep the mountain painting, and a few others.

I’ll bring out another drawing I unearthed in one of my next posts. The days have been so busy, I'm doing what I can when I can on the blockchain.

But I'm happy to report that this day, which began a bit rough (as evidenced in my last poem), turned into a really good day. It's almost midnight. I'm happy. I think I'll sleep well. I hope you have a wonderful day/night, wherever you are in the world.

Thanks so much for reading!

Take care of yourself, you are a gift!

Peace. @katrina-ariel

Your immense diversity in talents keeps on surprising me! I love the first drawing - a lot! I always wished I could draw, maybe I should do a course.

It's practice, like anything. My abilities definitely got better while I was in school, but just doing it again and again... like photography, like anything. Much love!

There is something about your 2nd drawing...it's a shame that you're far away, otherwise i will collect it rather than becoming an ashes.

Thank you, Jill! Yes, too much to do, not enough time. I packed for my trip to Atlanta late last night... stayed up way later than I should've. lol! But yes, flowing with it. Much love!

Wow.. very nice work of you all. I haven't been able to make a picture like that.

It takes a lot of practice, something I don't have that much patience with. lol! Thanks for the comment. :)

These are beautiful drawings! My favourite is the first one. I love the contrast between the trees in the front and the trees in the back most.

Thank you! I love that part too. Trees are fun to work with as inspiration. :)

Wow... beautiful old drawings
