Original painting, on paper 130gsm titled, DENTON

in #art6 years ago

Good day, STEEMIES! It's 11:00 am here in London, England. The sneaky sun is shifting in and out behind clouds and I'm tempted to go for a jog but I've got a lazy bone in my body that just won't cooperate with my temptation. So until I get my mind, body and soul in synchronicity, I will then go, but in the meantime I thought I'd share another piece of my art with you.

When I first started this painting, I had no concept in mind at all. I just played around with the different colors you see. I first painted the background black, then used a spatula blade to make the oval at the top.

I then took a snapshot of the painting and uploaded it to my computer as I do when creating most of my abstract paintings. For some reason I'm able to see the painting(s) much clearer and some images just stick out to me.

I saw the shapes of two figures in the blue on the right, so I defined them just a bit. One of them seems to be holding up the sun.

I know, you probably think I'm stark raving mad!
Perhaps!

I noticed little dents in the black paint so I defined them as windows then added the pink as to suggest light in them. The contrast of orange on the side awakened the painting a bit. I shaded and highlighted areas and basically did this through the entire painting until I felt it was done.

It was weeks later when I flipped DENTON around in landscape mode, I realized that it could be presented this way round as well to the viewer.

I thought, WOW"! But I couldn't decide what view I proffered! but stuck to the original.

From my point of view, the yellow represents the sun shinning over the black and red apartment blocks. To the side there's the waterfall, the green represents tree life and the blue below represents, water like a swimming pool or some water feature of some sort.
