New Painting!! At the Second Cummings.

I'm calling it! It's done. Rod Cummings and Mary Carver are together at Belleville-ville's pawn show and bar, the Second Cummings. It's the late 1970's.
Rod is an angry, self-defeated man with a vendetta against his brother-cousin Burton Cummings, the famous the Guess Who star. Rod and Mary have had a hot/cold relationship, sometimes lovers, sometimes scornful. She's an easy-going character who runs the nearby peacock manure farm. She's got a smart and dirty mouth.
I like to think that Rod creates most of his own problems, so all of the items in the display case are facing away from the customers. I think that explains why nothing is ever purchased from the pawn shop part of the business.
The window looks out onto some bricks, in a hopeless kind of way. This is the life I imagine for other characters in my monthly show.
I didn't time-budget enough for writing today, so I have to run. Write you all tomorrow! xo

At first glance, I did think this is a photo not a painting... And a nice backstory, well written!
Mary sure does look like an easy going person and Rod? Wonder why he has to close one of his eyes though.... 😃 is he really short? Because he does look it...

It is nice painting as always very beautifully done characters, obviously Rob is on front stage as a main character and Mary opposite but on other side it balances the composition very well. Like the musical corner in background with piano and bear with electric guitar :)
ah, it is done ! wonderful :) really like the expressions on rod's face here, and i love the details you've put into the piece <3 and your descriptions are great hahaha he creates his own problems !! it would really explain why the sales are not so hot :)
