Pug-bee: Illustration of Hybrids
Materials: watercolors, pencils, and colors.
PUG-BEE
The pug-bee also called Puggy belongs to the family of the Canopyps Apoidealy. They measures between 3cm up to 5 cm in the first days of life in males, in turn females can reach up to 7.5 cm in its wild state. They are typical of the tropical region of South America with affectionate temperament and high-pitched barks, they rarely attack with the sting.
There is evidence of sub-species that have not yet been fully described, however it is already a fact that they have reproduced and mutated manifesting their characteristics in their appearance of spider, parakeet, and flies.
This species has a leadership and control over other species of flies. These small flies follow the puggy and serve as food, during the release of the pupa for the young. As for the large specimens when reaching maturity at 6 months (in dog calendar) they feed on a specific flower of the exotic family Rosaceae; Vaginirosidae. This flower is so scarce in nature, hindering the proliferation of Puggy, whose record is displayed on Instagram: @Indianapttz, @polymorphe.doll. Investigation of Indiana Gonzalez (2018).
In this sense it is inevitable not to question: Were they an invention that sought to justify natural phenomena and serve as an instrument for social order?
Mythological beings:
- The sphinx
- The mermaid
- Pegasus
- Hippogriff
- Minotaur
- Lammasu
- Centaur
Selection of the parts and morphological study of the species;
- Bird: wing
- Pug: head
- Fly: eye and mouthparts
- Bee: body
I tried to generate a continuous visual texture, with colors and a pencil so that it could be perceived naturally as a real species.
This aspect was also considered for digital practice (Phothoshop) to maintain the continuity of texture and tones with the tools; Brightness and contrast, tone and saturation adjustment, layer mask, and image distortion.
With creativity there are no limits. Save the Puggy <3! Let's be part of the change!
