Hola, holaaa~ 🌸 Tras una de mis habituales desapariciones (calma, que por desaparecida no significa improductiva), he vuelto dado que logré encontrar cómo grabar de nuevo mis ilustraciones en medios tradicionales dado que he adquirido un pequeño pero útil trípode para el móvil y he logrado hacerme de cierto espacio para sentarme a ilustrar (algo incómodo, pero pronto eso mejorará), como ya sabes, me mudé de donde vivía antes y aún tengo que traerme mis muebles, ahora bien, quiero mostrarles esta ilustración sacada de un reto que se ha vuelto tendencia entre ilustradorxs en Instagram, el #drawthisinyourstyle.

Hell-oooooo~! 🌸 After another of my usual disappearances (chill out, I’ve been missing but I’ve kept working and being productive), I’m back again since I finally found a way to start recording traditional illustration videos again because I got a cute cellphone tripod and fixed a small (but not comfortable) table here I can sit and do my inkings (you know I moved to a nwe residence and I still didn’t bring my furniture here. Now, that being said I wanna sho you this drawing I made based on an illustration trending on Instagram, the #drawthisinyourtyle challenge.

❀ ¿Qué me inspiró? ~ What did inspire me? ❀

Al momento de realizar esta ilustración estaba algo frustrada porque no contaba con un espacio (que no fuese la cama) donde sentarme a ilustrar apropiadamente, sin embargo, tenía muchas ganas de hacer algo para salir de este bloqueo creativo con el arte tradicional (dado que había estado entregada en cuerpo y alma en realizar ilustraciones digitales.

At the moment I started the sketch for this illustration I was a lil bit frustrated since I didn’t have a space for drawing (except my bed) and I was craving for catching up with traditional media again. I had a creative block with it since I was putting all of me on digital art.

Había estado viendo muchos trabajos en el hashtag #drawthisinyourstyle, de parte de muchos ilustradores que sigo y en el dashboard del hashtag en sí, entre esos, encontré esta propuesta de @staceydraws y dado que me encanta ilustrar chicas rudas, decidí comenzar a bocetear. Como habrás notado, una de mis partes favoritas de las ilustraciones donde hay personajes, es el vestuario, cuando aplica. Este estilo de pantalones lo había visto bastante en fotografías de la moda callejera en Harajuku, Tokyo (Japón) y me pareció que caería como anillo al dedo de esta dulce buscapleitos, al igual que un objeto contundente, que al principio sería un bate con clavos, pero preferí dejarlo con una terminación más prolija.

I watched lots of works from lots of illustrators proposing the #drawthisinyourstyle challenge. There were lots of proposals in this hashtag. While I was scrolling I found this one made by @staceydraws and I fell in love because I love to draw badass girls so I started my sketch ASAP. As you may notice, one of my favorite parts to draw is clothing. These pants are quite popular on street fashion found on Harajuku, Tokyo (Japan) and I felt it’d suit perfectly with this sweet troublemaker, along with a contundent weapon, obviously. At the beginning it’d have been a bat with nails but I rather chose a well conserved bat for this one.

❀ ¿Qué materiales usé? ~ What did I used? ❀

Ya sabes que me encanta colorear a marcador, en especial con unas bellezas tan prolijas para el color plano, como son los Sharpies. Tienen muy buenos pigmentos y pueden manejarse fácilmente para variar el grosor del trazo. Sin embargo, como a mi país (Venezuela) no llega toda la gama de colores que esta empresa produce, suelo tener que combinar diferentes marcas. Para el bate y el fondo he usado marcadores Prismacolor Premier, los cuales dan un resultado muy prolijo también, en especial por el lado de la punta fina y cuya caja de 12 colores dio más variedad a las tonalidades en mis ilustraciones. Los delineados los he hecho con marcadores punta super y extra fina de Paper Mate en diferentes tonalidades. Últimamente estoy prefiriendo los blocks con hojas de cartulina dado que soportan mejor la humedad de los marcadores.

You know I love coloring using markers. Specially when thy give so smooth results as Sharpie Markers. They are well pigmented and are quite manageable on trace thickness. However, here in Venezuela most of their colors are not imported so I used Prismacolor Premier markers for the bat and the background. They give great results aswell, specially on the fine point side. The pack I have has 12 colours so I can add more shades of color to my pallete. I made the linework using Paper Mate both super and extra fine points on different tones. Nowadays I rather use cardboard pages because they support better the markers’ ink.

❀ Sobre la Música ~ About the Music ❀

Hace poco, desde que descubrí un par de artistas algo indie, mis playlist se han llenado de música bastante genial, entre esos, esta canción de Tessa Violet. El vídeo está genialmente producido y me encantan los colores vibrantes con el que está compuesto. La letra es genial y es fácil identificarse, la melodía es pegajosa y el ritmo queda genial para el desarrollo de vídeos en velocidad aumentada. A pesar de que originalmente esta no iba a ser la canción que pensaba usar, la escogí porque este personaje fácilmente podría ser el crush de cualquiera y, aunque suene algo tonto, me gusta porque su cabello es del mismo color que el de Tessa 💛.

Few weeks ago, after discovering a couple kind of indie artists, my playlist is full with pretty cool music. This is how I discovered this song from Tessa Violet. The video is quite well produced and has great and vivid colors in its composition. The lyrics are quite relatable, the melody is super catchy and the rythm works great for speed up videos. This is not the song I was going to use at first but I chose it because this character can be someone’s crush easily and (this may sound silly, but) I like that her haircolor is the same as Tessa’s 💛.
