Astrology Today -- Venus in Cancer -- Part of a Grand Water Trine

in #astrology6 years ago (edited)

Editor's Note: At the moment Venus in Cancer is part of an extremely benevolent pattern ... a Grand Water Trine between itself, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. I wrote a whole post on what to expect from it here.

Venus and Mercury
hangin' out close to The Sun

Venus and Mercury are the two planets in the solar system closer than the Earth to the Sun. In Astrology, Mercury is never more than one sign away from the Sun; Venus is never more than two. If you have Venus in Cancer, you have your Sun, either in Cancer, Gemini or very late Taurus ... or on the other side of the circle, your Sun will be in Leo or very early Virgo.

Venus also deals with two major areas of life -- relationships and love interests ... and possessions and financial support. Mainstream Astrology distills these down to the broad categories of “love and money,” but there’s an even broader category that describes Venus interests ... things of value.

When it comes to love,
there's no place like home.

Your Venus sign shows the character traits and qualities you will use in handling relationships, attracting love and managing your material assets. Cancer is a deeply intuitive sign, profoundly domestic and concerned with security matters.

Thus, Venus in Cancer is emotional, compassionate and sympathetic. It is very focused on issues that deal with home, family, safety and protection. It invites you to see everyone in your relationships as members of a large extended family and treat them accordingly. This can be both a good thing and a not-so-good thing.

At its best, family can be soothing and intimate, encouraging and supportive. At its worst, it can hurt you more than anything else in the world. So, when life is good for Venus in Cancer, home and family are the happiest places on earth. And because energy always flows in reciprocal directions, when home and family are safe and well, Venus in Cancer is contented. Joy and peace are abundant. Everything and everyone thrives.

If you have Natal Venus in Cancer

  • You don’t express your love with flashy passionate gestures or dramatic declarations of deathless emotion. (How’s that for poetic alliteration?) Seriously though, your love rises from deep wellsprings of feeling. It is as profound and sensitive as anything poets ever described.

  • You treat your loved ones with tenderness and compassion. You care about their welfare and safety. It is one of the most basic expressions of love -- by anyone’s measure.

  • You meet each new acquaintance and friend with the welcoming warmth that says this could be a new family member, a member of your personal tribe you have only just met -- but are certainly willing to adopt and embrace. All you need is a show of reciprocal interest. Your intuition will tell you if it’s there or not ... and if it’s real. Disappointment can seriously wound you, so you want to know what’s what early in the game.

When Venus is in Cancer
which it is at the moment ...

  • When Venus is in Cancer, people are sensitive, intuitive, protective, and sentimental.
  • They look to family members and those they consider "part of the family" for emotional support ... and they want to strengthen those connections.
  • Home life, privacy, and security needs assume priority in relationships.
  • There is also noticeable nostalgia, concern with tradition, and emphasis on memories and the past.

Part of a Grand Water Trine

As I mentioned also in the post noted above, there are two wonderful trines working with Venus at the moment. One from Jupiter in Scorpio and one from Neptune in Pisces.

Venus trine Jupiter brings a gracious, optimistic view of life. It may not be trouble-free, but you are able to take the attitude that “everything is working out for the best.” Even if it’s kind of a stretch to get there.

Venus trine Neptune brings heightened intuition, a more spiritual take on life and closer connections to your creative talents. Inspirations (especially ones with spiritual themes) are common with Venus trine Neptune ... and you may create from your own works of art the messages of faith and support you so earnestly need to hear.

But there are "complications"

But part of this pattern now involves the opposition from Pluto. These are the “complications” I mentioned. Oppositions from Pluto mean, if not trouble, at least challenges and adjustments. Oppositions bring relationship issues, problems from other people or outside conditions. So let’s call this a mixed blessing for now. Pluto oppositions especially suggest upsets, power struggles, and serious changes you simply can’t avoid.

So all this support to a sensitive Venus may not spell “peace and love” so much as course corrections with unexpectedly fine side-benefits. Things are still awfully tricky, and nothing is stable. Don't take anything for granted -- and understand that everyone's feelings ... including yours, need special care and handling and can be easily hurt.

And it takes compromise

Money, Venus' other big concern, is equally touchy. To Venus in Cancer, money represents safety, security, protection and the ability to care adequately for family interests. Anything that threatens your savings or income threatens this whole infrastructure -- and you'll react strongly because of that.

As long as life in your financial world is steady and smooth, everything else is also fine. But it doesn't take much disruption to set off alarms. And Pluto oppositions pretty much define “disruption.”

In these two signs -- Cancer and Capricorn -- it may show something as simple as a genuine desire to retreat into the bosom of home-and-family, enjoy the comforts your private life affords and spend some extra coins to spruce up the place ... make it pretty and comfortable.

Because you can't be in two places at once

But demands from your professional life interfere. You have public commitments to meet -- and people depending on you. So you have to somehow compromise between these two equally strong obligations (or desires.) After all, you’re only one person, and you can’t be in more than one place at a time.

If things are more serious, there could be some kind of professional change or crisis that requires your family life to adjust -- or a family-and-home based transition that requires you to shape your outer life commitments to fit those. In practice, it could be some combination of all this ... so be prepared for surprises, consider your options -- and let Life deliver a basket of goodies you may not have expected at all.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
