What's happening?

This is an exceptional moment -- more than usual as I discovered, looking back through my writing. The Sun is conjunct Jupiter in its own sign of Sagittarius.

Usually The Sun conjuncts Jupiter once a year -- and as Jupiter moves around the Zodiac about one sign a year, we should have had this conjunction in Sagittarius 12 years ago. But in Astrology, as in Life, things like precise timing and blanket statements don't always synch up.

Twelve years ago, in November 2006, the conjunction formed in the final degree of Scorpio. The next year it formed in the first degree of Capricorn -- skipping Sagittarius completely for that round.

A little something extra ...

So ... December 18, 1995 was the last time this pair met in this sign. Maybe it deserves a little extra celebration that they made it this time -- by the skin of their teeth. Mercury -- still Retrograde -- is there, too. So I'd call this a special occasion. (Remembering back to that time, I was about as wrung out then as I am now. I don't know about you.)

Most of the progress this month though will happen in the quiet stages of planning and vision. There are complications around, funneling a lot of potential into the realm of imagination, fantasy and creative dreaming -- at least for a while.

... sort of

That's not a criticism, because that work is important. But it does make it a little less spectacular -- because most of the work takes place behind the scenes, in the realm of new possibilities ... and making more of a difference in you.

So, let's talk about this fabulous Sagittarius cluster -- and I'll pick up the squares from Mars and Neptune in Pisces next time.

The Sun Conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius
An invitation to grow into something terrific

When The Sun conjuncts Jupiter it unites your self-image, your ambition and your individual purpose with the marvelous principles of growth, expansion, bounty, benevolence, intellectual sophistication, philosophical structures, and your overall "rules for living." The results can be truly impressive.

You can make a name for yourself by teaching and sharing the wisdom you've gained through study and experience. You may be actively teaching others ... or you may be teaching "society" through the example you set with your life and your choices.

Time to learn and grow

Great opportunities, moments that support your own education, and lucky coincidences that just seem to fall into your lap will come alive in the house that holds this conjunction. It brings a time of enthusiasm, excitement, increase, development and progress that seems "fated" ... because it's the harvest of positive Karma you gathered. It's been going on quite a while.

People with supportive talents and assets seem to "appear" to help you ... and Fortune itself seems to smile on your efforts. It is a time when you reaffirm and expand your philosophy of life, when you have the chance to live what you believe, make choices that tell the world who you are and what you stand for, and when you see the results of "faith" rewarded.

Time to be who you are

Together with a collection of friends and like-minded thinkers, you can reach goals more lofty than you could achieve alone. Projects you start now grow steadily, adding the power of spiritual and social "truth" into their structure.

The chance to realize ambitions truly in line with who you are and what you want to do with your life (perhaps the very reasons you came into being!) are highly supported now. Bottom line ... it's time to make hay -- and my how the Sun is shining!!

What to expect

  • Enriched confidence, generosity, faith, curiosity
  • Ambition for more education / more experience of the wider world
  • A restless feeling that it's time to do more, have more, learn and teach more, time to grow again.
  • Unusual luck -- and many invitations to see Life from the Cosmic Perspective

No kidding, this is a fun, profitable energy in a sign that just begs to let the good times roll. One of Jupiter's trademarks is that it drops blessings into your life with uncommon grace ... and frequency! But, again, as with any partnership, the more you work with it, the more it will work with you.

So, when this one knocks ... with its basketful of goodies to deliver, welcome it warmly. Clear off the couch. Put out some cookies. Invite it to stay as long as it wants. More than ever, what you put into life, you will reap in return. Give generously. Karma absolutely loves this guy!!

Mercury Conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius
An invitation to become more of an expert

Mercury is your Intellectual Self, following in the footsteps of what I just described. In Sagittarius, he brings more depth, more side-trips, more branches of knowledge in areas where you already know a lot. The topics already excite you -- and your knowledge is extensive and solid.

It may be time to catch up on the latest research or developments. It may be time to go back to school for an advanced degree (or buckle down for some serious self-study.) It may be time to explore and "get good at" related fields that will make you a more valuable resource and your knowledge more profound as a teacher.

Don't let this one slip past

Mercury / Jupiter contacts show times when you switch roles back and forth between teaching-and-learning. There is stuff you can learn and stuff you can share -- and the topics are pretty complex. They are the basis of your philosophy, your ethical principles and your "rules for living." They are what give life meaning for you -- so, of course, these are things to pass on.

With Mercury Retrograde (and moving back in Scorpio soon) this hangs around longer than usual. Instead of the regular week or so of the normal Mercury transit, this one will continue until just after the first of the year. (Longer than that, depending on what you do with it.) So make plans. Find something to study. Get ready to assume a larger place in the world. This year, it feels really important.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
