It's Astro-Logical -- practical advice for conscious living ---> Issue #50

The Sun in Pisces has formed
the departing square with Jupiter in Sagittarius.
This energy hangs around about two weeks.

The theme of this pattern

Getting in way over your head,
winding up overwhelmed.

Who are the players ...
and what is the plot?

Sun = ego, your self-identity, your willpower and ambitions, your sense of self-confidence and pride

Jupiter = growth, abundance, generosity, higher learning opportunities, your philosophy of life

Departing squares = running into conflicts and problems, discovering you need stronger foundations to do what you want to do, lack of help from your private life and personal resources, problems from your Inner Critic

What's happening?

If you follow the sequence of aspects here, this latest Sun meeting is kind of amusing. We go from dreaming, drifting and basically going nowhere ... to finally getting it in gear ... to going way overboard and winding up with a whole plateful of projects and commitments. Wow, does that ever sound like the story of my life. Maybe you can relate.

Anyway, we'll rethink this in a day or two, after Mercury moves back behind the Sun. But for now, this is what's going on. So be careful about taking on more and more -- because you're such a good person and all, and saying Yes feels better than saying, Sorry. No. But you're going to have to practice that.

Again ... you're only one person. There are only so many hours in the day. And even you have limits. You're about to rediscover them.

What to expect?

  • Finding you are spread way too thin -- which is also annoying, because you feel especially confident, capable, organized, ready to rock!
  • Going far overboard on your plans and intentions for the future -- which can actually deliver some benefits, to be honest.
  • Achieving a lot more than you would have by playing it safe -- that's the good news.
  • Having to jettison some work and responsibilities (and maybe let somebody down ... because you just cannot fit that favor into your schedule, honest you can't!!) -- that's the bad news.

And finally ...

Realize -- while you still have the chance to be careful and circumspect -- this energy has a way of sneaking up on you. On the surface, you may have been pretty prudent in your commitments. You really did listen to all the warnings. You've been through this before, etc.

But projects-in-progress when Sun Square Jupiter arrives tend to grow and prosper far beyond what you originally expected. You suddenly see all kinds of directions to run with these assets and energies -- and you just can't choose one path over another -- or force yourself to play small.

I'm going to cautiously suggest that this will work out ok -- anyway!! The Sun in Aries is very capable and ambitious -- and we'll be there in a few days. You'll probably still wind up running hard to keep up with everything -- but the race will be fun. It may even be manageable. Sort of. Enjoy the challenge. And as far as caution goes now -- well, do the best you can.

So. Does that mean I should or should not go to San Diego to assess a car for a friend? If he gets it it will be a long term project for me. The good news is I'll have the whole year to get it up to safety standards. Which should be easy.

The bad news is I have a couple of things going that just don't seem to want to end...

If he buys it -- and I assume you'll be doing the restoration / repairs, etc. ---> can you easily fit this project into your schedule?

Understand that if you take it on now, the scope of the "original work" will somehow expand -- perhaps considerably. You say you have plenty of time and this should be easy. But you (and everyone else) are inclined to under-estimate how much work something (anything!!) will actually take and over-estimate your ability to juggle everything.

TBH this could easily become another of those projects that just "don't seem to want to end." My advice is to tread cautiously now when it comes to taking on new commitments. Give yourself as much flexibility and space as you possibly can. They say work expands to fill the time available. But in this instance it will have a lot of unforeseen help in that expansion!

Don't under-estimate how much work something may take to get it "up to standards." Give yourself plenty of padding when you quote time / price, etc. Nobody will complain a bit if you come in ahead of schedule and under budget. (The alternative, however, could be a problem. Advice I gave my ex-husband that he never once took in his life. Protect your interests.)
