RE: Let's stop assigning so much value to attractiveness...

in #attractiveness5 years ago

The thing is, if you are attractive and you know it, and if you know all the advantages of it, you can accomplish a great deal more. It’s in your interest to make full use of your natural gift in much the same way an intelligent person or charismatic person would.

I completely agree... but isn't that kind of a shame? I'm sure there are instances where attractive people have to work so much harder to be taken seriously... and other instances where people who society doesn't find attractive are not provided with opportunities they might otherwise create something amazing with.

I'd love to see a shift away from attractiveness and see us all really value action.

It’s not shameful to be intelligent or charismatic. Life is hard. We should be able to use whatever is at our disposal to ensure our success without resorting to fraud or crime. With this in mind, being underestimated can also be a huge advantage.

Oh no, sorry, I didn't mean it was shameful to be intelligent or charismatic... not at all. What I meant is that it's a bit of a shame that being more attractive than average helps you accomplish a great deal more. It shouldn't be relevant, but somehow it so is.
