Cryptomining, ATX VS Server Power supplies
ATX power supplies are standard in the desktop computer environment, you can get a splitter to connect 2 or 3 of them together in order to power your mining operation. However, we run the risk of our adapters failing, by shorting out, melting or the worse case - catching fire. As I work all the time, I can't afford to have my property to catch fire. I never really worried about it much until I saw the pictures and heard horror stories. You may hear some people say that sata to 6 pin power adapters are bad, or molex to 6 pin, but one thing we all agree on is a direct connection (6 pin to 6 pin) is the best.
I now have peace of mind, yes the system can still go up in smoke but it is less likely, more efficient, and more reliable than before. I have been running this system since the recording of this video for around 2 weeks. It is running strong and I have had no issues since if the power cuts off the system will reboot and start auto mining. The system will shut down if something goes wrong, and stay off until I am able to resolve any issues.
In this battle of ATX VS Server power supplies, for crypto mining, I recommend a server power supply ALL DAY. If your willing to put up with a little bit more noise than your standard ATX.
