Last night in Ed's garage: repairing my own trucks wiring.
I had a cancellation at home last night, so that finally gave me enough time to fix my own truck!
None of my windows, locks or power mirrors work from the master switch on the drivers door. I had a suspicion that a wire had broke in the door jam.
Sure enough after some disassembly there is a broken wire and a few others that are damaged. The wires bend every time the door is opened, and nothing lasts forever on a car.
The only way to correctly repair this is to cut out the damaged section and replace the wire with a piece that is long enough to ensure the attaching points are not in the bend zone of the door jam.
Solder and heat shrink are only required if you take pride in your work and want it to last as long as possible.
There it is, all damaged wires are repaired and all works well again. Re-assamble is basically reverse of dis-assemble.
Happy motoring!

Good fix mate.

Nice work. I hate doing these kinds of jobs. Had to do this on my oxygen sensor and my wife's turn signal last year. Damn mice keep chewing the wires.
