I was in Sweden at Øredev 2017 last week to give this keynote address to start the second day of the annual software developer's conference.

The 51-minute speech is essentially a combination of mainly these two articles of mine, Cutting the Gordian Knot of Technological Unemployment with Unconditional Basic Income, and The Real Story of Automation Beginning with One Simple Chart. So you may want to read both of those instead, or additionally.

Towards the end, I include a list of existing cryptocurrencies inspired by UBI, and how we need more such currencies that somehow implement universal dividends by building a mechanism into the currency itself. By the way, for those who may have missed it, @dantheman has even looked into such a currency and how to potentially go about it.

I also include a quick intro to Steemit, and describe how platforms like this can easily introduce netizen dividends by providing a universal dividend to all approved users of the platform. I see this as an important element of making sure everyone creating the value of platforms via the network effect is rewarded for their microwork, and also to help people understand basic income as something people are owed as compensation for the big data they're generating.

    Thanks for sharing @scottsantens,

    I can see it's possible to have:

    • Technological employment by work distribution in a decentralized system
    • Basic income, via microwork, and all sharing in the collective big data generation.

    But I wonder what will evolved out of this next. You should really do multiple followup post on this. Well done!
