RE: Battle Games Skirmish Series

Doubt these will fill up with an 18% take. Players put in 80 and get back 65 a few minutes later, when there are multiple freerolls a day this is going to be a tough sell.....you are fighting an uphill battle.

Thanks for the feedback @gank! costs between 4-5 steem to create the tournament so as host we would earn roughly 10 steem. I could certainly lower this down to a smaller margin, was just hoping to be able to earn some STEEM to put back into larger tournament prize pools and build something fun and sustainable. I'm not convinced the main barrier is the margin we would earn as hosts, I think it's more likely players aren't finding enough value is spending 5 steem for a chance to win 50 steem.

Any suggestions? Would love to hear some alternative ideas.. Do you think the quick format takes value away from the tournament? I thought it was adding to the excitement and also gives a player a chance to earn about $25 in about 30 minutes of playing time..

I'm all for experimenting until we find a format that is rewarding for players and sustainable as hosts!

16 players pay 80 steem.
If those same 16 players play 6 games they will have paid 90 steem total.
It is just not worth the risk for people.

The 5 to win 50 sounds nice, but the reality is until someone wins a tournament they won't be thinking like that because the game has a lot of skill in it.....like chess.....and people dont really gamble on chess cause the best person usually wins.

Your best chance is to do 1 steem buyins or lower and look to break even for a while while building your brand, as opposed to trying to build your brand from nothing while profiting from the people you say you are trying to create value for. If it grows, then you can start taking a little extra etc.

90 steem total in fees*

Thanks for the feedback! There's definitely skill involved, and a considerable amount of luck as well. I would compare SM to something like poker. The best players tend to win consistently, usually with skill and sometimes with a little luck! Will be interesting to see how the landscape changes over the coming months. Another challenge we are up against is that Steem Monsters is sponsoring people to host tourneys by giving them prize money. Which perpetuates tournament formats that aren't sustainable. Thanks again for the input!

They are sustainable because they use a % of pack sales to supply the freeroll tournaments.....and after beta there will be another edition created.

You need to take this into account.

BTW not sure if you noticed but I am a WSOP World champion in Omaha Hi/Low.

No online poker sites take more than 10% of buyins and some of those tourneys last 5+ hours.

Haha beauty, did not know that! Thanks again for the insights champ!

No problem, best of luck!
