Wilderness Beach Camping

On the Pacific Coast of Washington State you will find about a 45 mile long stretch of Wilderness coast line. The northern most part of this is called Shi Shi Beach and its stunning. Its a relatively easy three mile hike. Camping spots are where you want them to be. Behind you is a 100 ft cliff and in front of you is the massive pacific ocean.

"Sea Stacks" dot the horizon and if you're lucky enough to experience a sunset with an actual sun not hidden by the clouds then you will truly know why people come here. One need only google it to know.

One can spend their time in peaceful reflection, hiking up and down the beach, or exploring tide pools.

My goal is to one day hike the entire length. This has many dangers though as the incoming tide can trap one in a place that may not be safe.

Several things to consider, One you need a good water filtration system as cryptosporidium is present in some water sources. Don't risk it. Second, a bear canister is required. Not for bears though, but because other animals will get into your food supply and destroy it given half the chance.

If interested in this trip, contact the ranger station in Port Angeles, Washington State. You will also need to get a tribal recreation pass as well at their local supermarket as you must pass through tribal land to access the parking lot.
