Beer Review

Crème Brûlée is a 10% Imperial/Milk Sweet Stout brewed by Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood, New York. Southern Tier started brewing in 2002 with equipment the purchased from the Old Saddleback Brewing Co. in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Since then, they've grown to distribute beers in over 30 states and more. The Crème Brûlée is a sweet and decadent imperial stout named after one of my all-time favorite dessert dishes. It's brewed with vanilla beans and lactose sugar to create a smooth and delicious offering.

The Bottle

Crème Brûlée is served in a 4 pack of 12oz glass bottles. It's brown glass with a black label. The center of the label says Crème Brûlée with 'Blackwater Series' written above. The following paragraphs were written on the box:

"Crème Brûlée Imperial Milk Stout is the definition of dessert beer, with notes of roasted malts balancing caramelized sugar, vanilla and rich, creamy custard.

We’re well known for our affection for decadent, flavorful, dessert-like beers, which has put us on an endless quest to brew the ultimate indulgence. Our dessert veers are a fusion of flavors, making each of them a perfect pairing when one craves an exceptional stout full of personality."

The Beer

Crème Brûlée tasted a lot like it's name. A vanilla, custard like flavor drifted throughout this smooth and rich beer. At 10% alcohol content, only one bottle of this stuff does the trick. Trust me, you won't be looking for much more after this sweet stout. It's delicious, but not something you want a lot of. Overall the Crème Brûlée is an epic dessert beer. I look forward to trying more brews from Southern Tier Brewing Company in the future.
