I was watching the Champions League final last night and the Television feed is delayed by as much as 45 seconds . According to my family I am a genius as I know when a team will score ahead of time. I was cheating obviously as I had a different feed to the television that was live.This leads me onto another story though. Have you ever heard of "pitch sliding" which is the term given to someone betting on a cricket match at the ground.

Huge fortunes were made by certain Indian bookies and I am sure others as well. Knowing about the time delay they had people at the ground on their cell phones updating them ball by ball ahead of the betting offices or just betting directly themselves. This was like printing money knowing what was happening ahead of everyone else.Broadcasters have the delay in place in case someone swears by mistake such as a commentator or a player picked up by the on field microphones. They would then have time to mute what was said protecting their audience from undesired language.

Technology had created this loophole and it must have made many people wealthy. This has been going on for years and just yesterday 77 people were thrown out of the ground in Bangladesh during a cricket match. It was tested that they have a nine second gap to place the bets and that is a bit tight, but they were still doing it.

I heard about another raid a few years ago in England targeting people supposedly placing bets during a game. I think there is very little one can do to stop this as long as their are gaps between live broadcasts. This is like knowing the lottery numbers before they are drawn, money for jam.

I don't see this as illegal really as you are just beating the bookies and taking advantage of technology. It would cost you to fly around and for the data on your phone.Personally I see it as bit of genius by whoever came up with this first and should have kept his mouth shut.

The cricket betting industry in India is worth Billions of Dollars every year. Ball by ball betting and brackets are where they make the money. Ball by ball is obvious, but a bracket is normally over a set amount of overs like 5 or 10 predicting scores. If the last ball of an over gets a wicket or goes for 6 then the odds change and this is how they beat the changing odds.

Literally a bookie in a brief case.

This is what the grounds are having to do now by putting up signage and stopping spectators taking in the following items. Quite a list really and I can see it not being prevented.

I can see a way around it by just getting a box and bringing everything you need a few days before which I am sure is happening already. They are probably catching all the small fish and this won't stop as there is too much money involved.
