อาชีพที่ไม่ต้องลงทุนอะไรมากมายคือการเป็นขโมย เดิมทีคนที่เป็นขโมยส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นคนที่ไม่มีความรู้และไม่มีทางเลือกในการทำงาน จึงจำเป็นต้องขโมยเพื่อยังชีพ แต่สมัยนี้คนที่เป็นขโมยส่วนใหญ่เกินกว่าครึ่งที่มักจะเป็นคนที่มีความรู้ความสามารถมีโอกาสในการเลือกช่องทางในการทำงาน แต่ด้วยความมักง่าย ก็เลยเลือกช่องทางนี้ในการทำมาหากิน
สำหรับขโมยในยุคนี้ น่ากลัวกว่าที่คิดไว้เยอะ อาชญากรรมทางอินเตอร์เน็ต มีเยอะมาก ทั้งแบบหลอกลวง ตัมตุ๋ม ไปจนถึงพวกขโมยที่มีความรู้มากหน่อย ก็คงจะเป็นแฮ็คเกอร์ ที่มีความรู้ความสามารถในทางเทคโนโลยี แต่ใช้ในทางที่ผิด จับไม่ได้ก็โชคดีไป เหล่าแฮ๊คเกอร์เหล่านี้โจรกรรมหรือขโมยแม้กระทั่งข้อมูลต่างๆไปจนถึงเงินในบัญชี
เป็นที่น่าตกใจเป็นอย่างยิ่งเมื่อเร็วนี้ ที่ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ทางตำรวจญี่ปุ่นได้เข้าจับกุม เด็กอายุ 18 ปีได้ที่เมือง Utsunomiya โดยแฮ๊คเกอร์วัย 18 ปีนี้ได้เจาะเข้าระบบของ Monappy ซึ่งเป็นดิจิตัล wallet บนสมาร์ทโฟน และได้ทำการขโมย cryptocurrency หรือเหรียญดิจิตัลมูลค่าจำนวน 15 ล้านเยนหรือประมาณ 134,196 เหรียญสหรัฐ ในช่วงวันที่ 14 สิงหาคมไปจนถึง 1 กันยายน ของปี 2018 จากบัญชีผู้ใช้งานของ Monappy จำนวนมากกว่า 7700 ราย
สำหรับการโจรกรรมในครั้งนี้ไม่มีผลกระทบกับ cold wallet ที่ใช้เก็บเหรียญดิจิตัลของ Monappy แต่ทาง Monappy ยินดีชดใช้ให้กับผู้เสียหายในกรณีดังกล่าว สำหรับรายละเอียดของแฮ๊คเกอร์รายนี้ไม่ได้ถูกเปิดเผยต่อสาธารณะชน เพราะผู้กระทำความผิดเป็นผู้เยาว์อายุไม่ถึง 20 ปี
ตั้งแต่ปี 2018 มีการกรณีที่น่าสงสัยอันอาจจะเกี่ยวข้องกับการทำธุรกรรมทางการเงินเพื่อการฟอกเงินโดยใช้เหรียญดิจิตัลมากกว่า 7700 ราย ส่วนภาพรวมในระดับโลก การโจรกรรมทางไซเบอร์มีมูลค่าความเสียหายประมาณ 1000 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐภายในปี 2018
An 18-year-old hacker was referred to prosecutors in the Japanese city of Utsunomiya for stealing cryptocurrency.
