In a recent article by Investopedia, it was reported that Berkshire Hathaway is making a $58 billion long-term bet on three stocks that have drastically lagged the broader market. Buffett now owns nearly $18 billion in combined stock of financial companies American Express Co. (AXP) and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), both which have sharply trailed the S&P 500 for five years. In addition, the conglomerate now owns $40 billion in Apple Inc. (AAPL).⁣⠀
