SEC applies defibrillator to Bitcoin ETF idea

Back in 2016, the SEC buried any hope that a bitcoin ETF would come onto the market any time soon. The deadline for that decision was keenly watched in the crypto world, as it was felt so critical to mainstream adoption. In the event, their refusal caused a temporary dip in bitcoin’s price, before it continued marching on to all-time highs.

Now, it seems that the SEC is prepared to revisit the idea of a bitcoin ETF, which would make it easier than ever for ordinary investors to gain exposure to BTC. They have launched an inquiry about making a rule change that would allow the New York Stock Exchange to list two bitcoin ETFs. If that change is approved, we could see bitcoin becoming part of a lot more small investors’ portfolios.
