  1. Major cryptocurrency exchange Binance has partnered with crypto analytics startup Coinfirm to improve its anti-money laundering (AML) compliance. The integration of Coinfirm’s blockchain-agnostic AML Platform will purportedly streamline Binance’s compliance with the AML rules issued by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Binance will deploy Coinfirm’s products to assess and analyze AML risk in regards to more than 1,200 digital currencies, tokens and diverse blockchain offered on its trading platform.

  2. Telegram core team has finally confirmed that the Telegram Open Network (TON) Blockchain will take place in late October. Revelation was made in an e-mail that was sent by the messaging app giant to the project’s original investors. The E-mail states that the investors have been provided with the TON Key Generation Software, which allows creating public and private keys for TON accounts. In order to obtain their GRAM tokens, all ICO participants are supposed to provide Telegram with their public keys before Oct. 16.

  3. South Korean exchange Bithumb’s international platform Bithumb Global is looking to establish a regulated cryptocurrency exchange in India. Javier Sim, co-founder and managing director at Bithumb Global, revealed that the company is willing to engage with Indian regulators to build a new regulated exchange Sim reportedly said: "We are open to talking to regulators, working with them to be a regulated exchange. We are a strong brand from Korea and do not involve ourselves in unregulated or illegal trade.”

  4. After Barclays stopped providing Banking services to Coinbase in August 2019. Coinbase UK has now once again resumed GBP withdrawals and deposits for its UK customers. In a blog post published, the exchange spoke of having successfully transitioned its payment systems for UK customers and reinstating GBP transfers. With the latest update, the exchange will be adding support for five cryptos, namely, XRP, Stellar Lumens [XLM], Basic Attention Token [BAT], 0x [ZRX], and Augur [REP].

  5. Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is opening a school specializing in startups aiming to develop cryptocurrency-related projects. Andreessen Horowitz unveiled its Crypto Startup School in an announcement, saying that it intends to “encourage more tech entrepreneurs to start crypto projects and help crypto-curious builders navigate the idea maze.” Commenting on the initiative launch, Chris Dixon, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, told that the school will be free of charge.

  6. IKEA, the popular Swedish-founded furniture and appliance retail company, has settled a bill using a token built on the Ethereum blockchain. The transaction was carried out on a platform provided by supply chain management firm Tradeshift and used “programmable digital cash” from ConsenSys-backed Monerium. Icelandic retailer Nordic Store purchased goods from IKEA Iceland and settled an e-invoice using Monerium’s tokenised Icelandic krona.

  7. Payments giant PayPal, one of 28 members of the Facebook-led Libra stablecoin project, is on the verge of quitting the project. As per report PayPal was the only member firm which did not attend a key meeting in Washington to discuss how Libra would address increasing opposition from global regulators. The payments giant is reportedly concerned that Facebook has not done enough to address rising scrutiny, especially related to money laundering issues.

  8. Apple company’s CEO Tim Cook stated he believes money should remain a matter for governments, not businesses. Tim Cook poured cold water on the idea that Apple could release its own currency tokens. “No,” he said when asked about the possibility, continuing: “I truly think currency should remain in the hands of the state. I’m not comfortable with the idea that a private entity can create a modern currency.”

  9. Cryptocurrency exchange Binance is launching a token pegged 1:1 with XRP, says company’s CEO, CZ. The asset will be “100% backed” by XRP. The new token is designed to give users on Binance’s decentralized crypto exchange, Binance DEX, a way to invest in a crypto asset that will perform exactly the way XRP does. The CEO says that every transaction can be verified on the blockchain and that he hopes the new asset will actually increase the demand for native XRP tokens.

  10. Joe Rogan briefly touched the potential of Google's "quantum supremacy" in a recent podcast with Roseanne Barr. He summarized the potential threat it poses to cryptos like bitcoin: “This Google quantum computing thing– they think it’s a huge threat to cryptocurrency. I’m too stupid to understand whether or not they’re right. But what they’re trying to say is there would be no way to encode or encrypt this information that would keep it from this insane computing power they’re developing.”

  11. Philadelphia Federal Reserve bank president Patrick Harker said it is “inevitable” for the central banks, to start issuing digital currency. Speaking at a community banking conference in St. Louis, Harker argued that the U.S. should not be the first big country to issue a national coin, because technology is still maturing. “It is inevitable.. I think it is better for us to start getting our hands around it,” the Federal Reserve official said, answering a question about the Fed’s decision to create its own real-time payments system called FedNow.
