NO CHILD MUST LIVE UNDER ISRAELI MILITARY OCCUPATION ACT TO FREE AHED TAMIMI AND PALESTINIAN PRISONERS



At the call of Samidoun, the Palestinian network of solidarity with Palestinian prisoners and BDS Holland, participate in an international week of action for the release of Ahed Tamimi and Palestinian political prisoners from January 10 to 20, 2018.

Ahed Tamimi, a 16-year-old minor arrested on 19 December by the Israeli army in his village Nabi Saleh surrounded by settlements, was presented to the military court on 28 December. the twelve charges finally held against her (from slapping a soldier, throwing stones, and harassing the army) may be worth several years in prison. Knowing that the conviction rate of the Palestinians brought before the military courts is close to 100%, it is urgent to act.

A critical level is reached in Israel's abuses and human rights violations, particularly towards Palestinian children.

Call on our legislators and ministers to act and hold Israel accountable for its violations:

To strongly condemn the detention of children, which violates the rights of children, human rights and international law. To demand that Israel and its military regime guarantee the rights of Palestinian children. Israel signatory to the International Convention on the Rights of the Child CIDE, 28 October 1992 refuses its responsibility as occupying power over the children of the occupied territories. It violates all the rules on child imprisonment established and recalled by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. To bring them closer to the Israeli ambassador in France and indicate their condemnation of these violations , and that they demand the immediate release of Ahed Tamimi and the child prisoners.

Israel is the only country in the world that systematically stops and prosecutes children in military courts, that is, in the absence of any fundamental procedural guarantees. According to the organization Defense for Children International-Palestine, Israel continues each year between 500 and 700 children in military courts.

Currently 450 Palestinian children are held in military jails for long periods of time awaiting trial, in solitary confinement, abused, intimidated, interrogated, harassed and abused. 16-year-old Ahed Tamimi, arrested and imprisoned since 19 December, was handcuffed and shackled to the military court judges.
