[TUTORIAL] Setting Up Your Rig on Mining Rig Rentals

in #bitcoin6 years ago

So, you want to rent your rig out, but don't want to mess with NiceHash?
No offence NH...
Here, you'll learn the basics of setting up your rig on miningrigrentals.com with a step-by-step guide. Let's begin.

Step 1: Sign up.
Seriously, go sign up for an account. Not only will you be able to rent YOUR rig, but you can also rent other rigs with what you make from that. We'll cover that in another tutorial completely.

Step 2: Create a new rig.
Here's where you're gonna start the fun stuff. Once you get your account set up and you're logged in, click on "My Rigs" up at the top of the page. On the next page, you'll click on the green button that says "Create new Rig" which I've highlighted in the picture below...alt
Once you do that, you'll see this...

For the name, that can be whatever you want. Be serious. Be funny. I mean it. Look closely at my rig name...lol

Your hashrate determines your pricing. You'll want to list it as close to your average hashrate as possible without advertising it too high. Too low and you're cheating yourself. Too high and your rig will be issuing a lot of refunds.

Algorithm type is what coin you'll be renting your hash power for. Monero? That's CryptoNoteV7. Ethereum? That should be Dagger-Hashimoto. Z-Cash or Bitcoin Gold? Equihash. If you aren't sure what algorithm you've been mining on, Google will tell you. Just ask.

To choose your server, you must first know where you are. Just choose the one closest to your physical location.

As an example, I'll be creating a rig. Have a look...

Once you're done, just click the green button. Let's move on.

Step 3: Configure your pools
Alright, before we can connect your rig, we've gotta set up a couple of pools so you can still mine when your rig isn't rented. Click on your rig's name. On the next page, click on "Pool Configuration."

alt

Here is where you'll enter the information that's in your config/batch file for your miner.
alt

It should look something like this. Once you've got that info entered, click on "Save" and repeat this process if you have any other pools you want to use in case your main pool fails.

Step 4: Connecting your rig

Okay, you got the rig listed and mining pools ready to go, now it's time to connect it. Click on "Rig Settings" to go back to the previous page. Click on the tab that says "Connection Information." You'll see "Miner Configuration Examples" listed. If you've already got your miner's config and batch set up just the way you want them, then just copy and paste the address and username into them. For instance, if you've been mining XMR on MinerGate, then your config/batch might look like this:

-o stratum+tcp://xmr.pool.minergate.com:45770 -u [email protected] -p x

To connect your rig to their server, it should look similar to this:
-o stratum+tcp://us-west01.miningrigrentals.com:3333 -u username.12345 -p x

Once you've added this to your miner's config/batch, run the miner.

Almost ready...

The only things left to do are set your pricing and make your rig available. Automatic pricing is usually selected by default, but if you want to set it higher or lower you can. On the Rig Overview page, click on the Pricing tab. From here, we'll get your rig price set up.
alt

alt

Here, you can either select automatic pricing, which will allow the price to fluctuate with the value of BTC, or opt to set your own fixed price. You can also adjust the price by percentage either higher or lower. While you're free to set that percentage wherever you want, setting it too high will scare renters away while too low gets you much less than what you're spending on electricity.

You can also opt to accept other coins for payment. Just click on the tab for each coin, then click "Yes" by "Enabled," and set it to automatic pricing. It will adjust the price according to what you set for BTC.

The "Minimum Rented Price" isn't a necessity. The site says it should be at least 0.0001 BTC, but I've had my little 250H/s rig rented for as little as 550 satoshi.

Last Step...
Finally, let's set the rig as "Available," so you can start making money.

alt

Click on "Settings," by "Rental Status" you'll click the arrow and select "Available." Then just scroll down and click on the green button that says "Update."

That's it!
You're all set. You can go back later and adjust various settings such as minimum and maximum rental periods (set be default to minimum 3 hours and maximum 96 hours). Those are on the settings page where you set the availability. Now, it's the hardest part of using this site. The wait for your first rental...
